Which ones have you heard so far?

California:
Everyone is gay.
Everyone is tanned and sexy.
All the girls are like the ones in California Gurls.
Everyone lives next to Hollywood stars.

Texas:
Everyone is a cowboy.
There are gay cowboys (Brokeback Mountain)

New Jersey:

Originally coming from Maryland, I could probably make about 50 jokes about West Virginia being filled with hillbillies with no teeth. I found out later that the same jokes are often used for Arkansas :(
Oh, and another stereotype is that most people in West Virginia have a southern accent. They absolutely do not.

Maryland:
All rich, democtat, seafood loving bastard yuppies who drive like maniacs and have goverment jobs.

Washington State:
We're all high and sleepless on caffeine in Seattle (lol pretty true. There's a coffee stand about every other block even in the smaller communities)
It rains all the effing time. Not true. The majority of the state is a desert full of tumbleweeds and sagebrush. I happened to live my teenage years in that hell hole
Everyone's a treehugger

People in Florida have no idea how to do something as simple as punch out a chad (old sterotype lol)
Everybody in Florida speaks spanish

Uhhh... I can't think of too many Canadian province stereotypes except for the good ol' Newfies. I freaking love Newfies. Oh, well there's Quebec, but I feel that's more against the French for being French.

New Jersey
That the entire state is like the dumbasses on that show, when almost of them are from New York lol. I'm sorry the Jersey Shore isn't Seaside Heights to me, it's Ocean City or Wildwood.

I only go to the US for like 1 week per year, but it's hard not to have stereotypes anyway. Mine are obviously wrong, but they are somehow etched in my brain.
California - good weather, people are obsessed with their appearance, more open-minded
Florida - No hope for survival if you don't speak spanish, pretty much tropical (This one I do know - I went there when it was winter and it was still way too hot)
New York - Stylish, progressive people. Somehow I've been brainwashed to think NY is awesome.
Texas - Oh god I had a Texan exchange student in high school and he was a walking stereotype. He kept singing jesus songs with his acoustic guitar which had a "KING KONG IS NOT MY GRANDPA" sticker on it. And whaaat an accent. Someone showed me his christmas pictures and I didn't know whether to laugh or cringe. All that was missing was a bright scarlet neck.
Alabama - I don't know much about it other than that my dad is terrified of it. Anecdote from him: "Once I had to use the subway there and I almost shit my pants when I realized I was the only white man on it. The only one!" Yes, he is a racist asshole.
Utah - mormons?

West Virginia - Rednecks who like to inbreed and are all racist
Sorry West Virginians :whistling:

ALSO, I live in Virginia and our stereotypes are like in that video exactly. West of the capital, its all rednecks and racists. East of the capital it's progressive liberals who are focused on their jobs.

I was thinking about going to Newfoundland, PEI, and Nova Scotia next Summer for vacation. Or would it be better to go to Ontario like every other touristy American?

Depends if you like culture or consumerism

I'd say I'm about 70% Culture. 30% Consumerism. I think I can figure that Ontario = Consumerism. NE Canada = Culture?

Yeah, I'd pick NFLD/NS over Ontario anwyays, because it's just like visiting any other bigger city, there's nothing too special about it

if you want 50/50 culture and consumerism, quebec would be your best bet, you can explore the french language and cuisine, stay in luxurious hotels, and just embrace the culture, as montreal is pretty much the art capital of Canada.

NS/NFLD is the english alternative, you can see icebergs depending on the season, go fishing, have great nights at bars, see historical architecture, see traditional summer plays, lots of sea food too.

All of Canada is extremely scenic so I'm just gonna leave that out.

Alright, thanks for clearing that up for me :D I never really thought about Quebec because I figured the language barrier would be a bit difficult to get over.
