Because i have neopoints, and at the same time don't really play this game, I thought id give some intensive for people to actually give me a hand with this one. While i don't know what the item is yet, it will be something ETS that is around 1,000,000np.

Now, what I'm looking for is a development computer. So it does not need to play games, or any of that shit. It is strictly something that i will use for programming.

Few Requirements:
  • Intel only :p AMD can suck it
  • If you use a GFX card, no ATI
  • All items must come from http://www.newegg.ca
  • I require at-least 2 video outputs (bonus points if they are the same format, eg: (VGA VGA), (HDMI HDMI))
  • While this isn't 100% required, it would be nice if the format wasn't DVI as the monitors im going to be using, the DVI port is not vacant.
  • When calculating total cost, please use the area code: E3B 3W4 (its my works :p)
  • CPU must be at-least 2.0GHz Dual Core
  • Any order over 700$ (including shipping) will be ignored

Bonus:
  • Small Case
  • Quad-Core CPU
  • Same format for dual video output
  • No DVI outputs
  • Low Shipping cost
  • Visually Appealing
  • Using ASUS products (i am a fan ;))

This is the baseline (meaning if you guys fail to impress me, i have this to fall back on):

Case w/ 250 Watt PSU: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16811322004
500GB HDD: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16822148701
4GB RAM: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16820231438
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16813131713
CPU: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16819115076

Subtotal: ---- $409.45
Shipping: ---- $29.63
Handling: ---- $0.00
GST/HST: ----- $57.08
PST: --------- $0.00
Grand Total: - $496.16

Thanks & Good Luck :)

Not bad CaluM, defiantly cutting it close with the budget thing. I did change the requirements slightly, but i dont really care for your entry. Im not a huge fan of ATI xD

All it is going to be running is python, ssh and a bunch of other tools. So it does not need to be a super computer or anything.

The graphics card is just there for outputs, could be swapped for an equivalent priced Nvidia one.

if this is all you are going to be doing it would be best to get over your fanboyism and go with a llano APU

I agree, also if your really strapped for cash, you can always buy used hardware

I'm getting 1gb ram, intel e6420, and a motherboard for $60

I'm not that familiar with nvidia/intel systems (you could really get something a lot better with amd/ati :p), but here's a try:

Case: lancool (lian-li): http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16811112238
CPU: intel i5-2400 Sandy Bridge: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16819115074
Subtotal: $249.98
Shipping: $21.98
GST/HST: $36.66

PSU: Enermax 350W http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16817194091

RAM: Kingston 1x4GB DDR3 1333 http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16820139046
(1x4GB to ensure you'll be able to at least upgrade to 8GB later on - you'll need it if you ever start developing in languages like c++, c# or java :p)
GFX: ASUS GeForce GT 440 http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16814121426
HDD: Hitachi Deskstar 1TB: http://www.newegg.ca...N82E16822145304

Why are you limiting your self to no amd processors (which are nice for budget builds) and no ati video cards? And why newegg only?

Honestly, for a budget pc, AMD and ATI cards are they way to go, price for performance, AMD wins on both counts.

CPU: Intel i5 2500K. This quad-core Sandy Bridge is extremely fast, and easily overclockable.

GPU: Asus GeForce 8400. It has an HDMI, D-SUB, and DVI ports. I couldn't find any dual HDMI / VGAs. It's only here for the ports.

PSU: Corsair 430w. Corsair has pretty good power supplies.

HDD: Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB. Great hard drive. Decently fast and good space.

Mobo: Asus LGA 1155 MicroATX Mobo. Small mobo for small case.

Case: Rosewill Slim MicroATX Case. It's a nice looking, small case. Comes with a power supply, but I would use the one I include.

RAM: 4GB DDR3 1333 Corsair Memory. It's memory. lol.

Grand Total: $658.18 with shipping.

Could take the PSU out of the equation, the 300w one included with the case easily clears the reccomended 231w for this system.

Personal preference; same with my views on apple (tho my apple points are much more valid). Newegg only because they have a Canadian shipping area, good selection, easy to traverse.

I suppose, if you really wanted to save money. I prefer having a decent PSU to protect my investment--I don't really trust cheap PSUs that come with cases.

so you hate apple, but you still want to pay more to achieve the same level of performance? :whistling:

He actually isn't paying more for the same level of performance. The Intel Core i5-2500K is amazing bang for the buck! Don't believe me? Read this and this. AMD may be the king of low end CPUs, but with his budget I think Intel is the way to go.

But even if Intel wasn't the way to go, the guy just likes Intel. It's his preference. =/
