I see a lot of people recommending proxies for Neopets cheating, and I'm curious why?

I only use one account, and I don't see the merit in masking my IP address when if anything it would only get me into trouble by forgetting to turn it on/off between loging in.

So, why do you feel a proxy is necessary?

It is used to separate cheating accounts from your main account.
You use your regular IP on your main, and your proxy (to disguise your real IP) on your cheating accounts (shells).
So when TNT find you out, only your cheating account gets frozen.

You're only using one account so there isn't any need. But most people here cheat using multiple accounts.

As others have already said it's a good method to protect your main account when ABing, some people have numerous shells and different proxies to make sure their main account remains protected - I believe there's a guide to this on the forums you could search for if you're interested in finding out more.

Proxies won't help if you're trying to scoresend for avatars, trophies etc. to build up or establish a main account in that case common sense and caution are needed!

To Drelvon I recommend the free elite proxies from Hidemyass. When I used to use public proxies I always got them from there and never had any trouble, you can get some pretty fast ones as well.

Also in reply to Therion, Yes proxies are mainly used to keep your main safe but if you are a prolific cheater (numerous account freezings linked to your IP) a proxy can help to protect you from being IP banned by Neo.
