How come NeoCodex doesn't offer a lifetime subscriptions?

I'd gladly pay $30 for a lifetime membership.

Probably because people are willing to pay $24 for 6 month of membership

I just think it would be more effective if they had a 1 time payment option.

If there was a one time option then people would come here, pay a small fee and never come to the site again. It encourages people to stay around and contribute to earn advanced.

Actually, statistically, Neocodex probably sees more 1 month subscriptions despite other subscriptions being cheaper. As the loyalty of the forum/network increases, they'll see a good rise in those buying longer memberships but there are tons of people who come and go and toss $5 around like nothing. Lifetime membership would technically have to be greater than $40 to viably implement and even then...it's lifetime, how many services are lifetime/ one-time payments these days?

Although I do like the idea of a lifetime payment option because I disagree with the principle of having to pay always and forever to have access to something, this already isn't the case on neocodex, because advanced membership is offered to those who contribute to the community.

I feel like a lot of the people that pay for advanced (regularly) also assum that at some point they will be granted advanced membership without payment whether it was by getting to 500 posts in the old system or by being nominated and accepted under this new system. Making an option for a lifetime membership might not be as popular option. I know, that if I had the money I'd buy advanced for a while until I got it based on my activity...

It would be disingenuous to offer a lifetime membership because we can't guarantee that the site will be around for anybody's lifetime. ;)

You might be able to persuade the admins to offer maybe a 1 year additional one though.

There's also the notion that you probably won't play -neopets- for your entire lifetime. <.<

Sudden mental image of grumpy old-fart boggart desperately clicking on the unresponsive Abrosia start button and trying not to spit out his teeth while yelling at the screen.

although it would be nice to see this (don't know what it says on this site)

Advanced membership valid until: 4/24/2285

This way if I did manage to make it to be 300 years old, I could still play neopets lol
