A lot of people go by the standard '4 month minimum' rule for this
but I remember I was looking through the pound, looking for one pet species in particular (i think it was a gelert or something at the time) because I'm a good person and try to adopt and not make pets D:
Anyway
I was looking through the pound with my 'one month'r' account and saw a few pretty colored pets. They were mostly brown and pink, nothing TOO extraordinary.

My main question is can you pound surf and have SOME success with an at least one month old account?

I dont really pound surf for specific colors, more for species that I wanna zap.

I would, but the last two pieces of the map I need to get are stupidly expensive, so I settle with the next best thing and pound surf

that's fair, have you tried to use the auto-adopter? if so, any luck?

I think young accounts can't see pets whose levels are higher than 1.

Nearly all the good colors are un-adoptable by <4month accounts. You can still pick up VWNs, Pinks and a few other decent colors so there can be some 'success'.

accounts under 4 months can only adopt pets level 2 and under with the colors listed at: http://www.neopets.com/~aichinemeru

Basically anything non-clothed and with no additions except color change.

I don't care too much for levels. I play Neo for the pretty pet colors, not for the battledome. lol.
