i used to be legit.
i had a 110+ month old main that i had since i was a teenager, and i had spent over $2k in NC, and even went the extra mile to get premium.
it got iced for cheating. now i am a cheater. irony.

Not entirely related to the conversation above, but back to Adam...

I read some interview he gave to JN, I think. Anyway, I believe he and Donna left somewhere around 2005 (not sure if the date was correct) but he said that he and Donna were extremely unhappy with the way the company was going - basically the same complaints players have now. It's too much advertising, too focused on money, and not on the player. He said he and Donna had been unhappy there since around 2004 and nobody was really listening to them. They say that they're also not entirely happy with all the censorship because they created Neo for college kids so they could have a pet that they could hang around with without paying money to care for it, and that they had a lot of "tongue-in-cheek" humor...and now it's all aimed at kids.

So, yeah. It's nice to see that even Donna and Adam are like "WTH are is Neo doing?"

I've been playing on and off for about ten years, I have to agree with hating TNT. I was completely legit, then somebody very close to me died. I really didn't know who to talk to about that shit but apparently talking to my neofriends about it was enough to get my then 3 year old account banned Then BS emails from TNT saying they sympathize with me but I still broke the rules, oh the horror unto the children to realize that death exists? I mean seriously, it's seven years later and I'm still like WTF.

there's a common theme among this thread and it's the exact reason for neo's flawed customer support and greed. we all say we HATE tnt, yet we continue to play this game so much to the point that we cheat in order to have better virtual accounts. this is why neo could care less. no matter how much they freeze us, we all come back anyways. and eventually, many of us spend money on NC again. At the end of the day everything they do is about making money. They've made moves that gives them a better chance to make more money. As much as I dislike all the unfair freezings and people not getting unfrozen because TNT doesn't care, how would you run the site if you were trying to make money?

Well, $160m is not to be scoffed at. And it can't be said to be a modest amount either. Had they waited, they could have made double that though.

Can you justify that? I don't really trust your opinion on multi-million dollar finance decisions.

I make it a point to run ad-block whenever I play. Viacom (owns MTV, which owns nickelodeon) are as soul-less a company as there ever will be. I remember when the website was about fun, and not microtransactions. All the more reason for us to cheat though, right?

Should also mention that if your account gets frozen while under premium status, they will continue to charge you monthly until you CALL and unsubscribe. They have no means of canceling the subscription online despite requiring payment to be set up online. I only figured all this out after being charged for a second month of premium service to an account that was frozen during the two week trial period.

-Strictness and the 0 tolerance policy they have. Most MMO's..or at least wow don't completely ban you on the spot.
-If you get hacked they will not replace any items or things that may have been lost on the account, other than your password. There isn't much of a item tracking system for accounts. Their response: "lol sux to be u maybe be more careful nextime"
-The ads that aren't even kid appropriate sometimes. Thank goodness for AdBlock.
-I guess, some of the plots get really really furry, some people draw a clearly rodent species into a stereotypical sparkle canine.
-NC mall items


From my understanding Neopets had a scientology CEO from 2000-2006ish (?) before he sold it to Viacom. I almost want to research the practices that neopets uses to manage everything on their site and compare it to practices in scientology and see if I can find some correlations to that. Someday, someday.

I thought of something else I hate about Neo yesterday. I hate when people say crap on the TP like "neomails asking for price will get you blocked forever." Like oh you're such a badass because you don't care to block people who can't read your damn mind. Then they say "Check TP for price before you offer." Sometimes there isn't a price! How are you supposed to offer based on information that doesn't exist?
