I thought IDB was owned by Jellyneo? Also another sign that neo is dying.

It was never owned by JellyNeo, apparently they're planning to give them the database though.

Well I'd love to see it get back up no matter who takes on the task...

In the mean time, anyone have a viable substitute? You got the link, I got the rep.

That's the one which basically ripped off IDB's database.

I doubt we have enough people interested in the battledome to be able to gather the icons of new weapons very well.

We put in a bid for the battledome database. They are idiots and didn't give it to us :p

I'm sure if we had 1 or 2 people willing to keep track of, add, and test the new items we could easily create a database. We could even create an autobattler to test the items and report the results, and use the database to pick weapons that would do the most damage.

We don't need a huge team for doing so.
And even if the people didn't really tested new weapons as they com out, the data of the most used weapons would be there.

    (I like the idea)

We have other things to finish and release first, it wouldn't be for probably months anyway even if it were to be made.

A reliable BD source would be great! I'd gladly put a vote down for its creation.
Perhaps an adaptation to the battle simulator (E.G. new tabs presenting information on viewing items + their stats/reviews, search items according to things such as damage/icon type/price, etc)
It certainly would be a lot of work and I understand Waser's concerns that precedence is taken to projects already on the board, but why not make Neocodex the 'One-stop-Neopets-Assistance-Site'? Personally I loath scrummaging through the BD boards on Neo or resorting to TDN's (often) false figures. We have a community here so why not make use of it? As iargue proposed; one or two (or a handful) official moderators could run the content updates while everyone is allowed to submit a comprehensive weapon description for any items not in the database yet or that need updating (thing such as str/def/spd/int boost/level of pet, icon types dealt/defended, how many times you used the item to get these results, etc).

I would be willing to help in the task of creating a database. It sounds like if we have one, Neocodex will pretty much have everything you could want in one site.

They copied most of what they have from IDB, and TDN is lacking a lot of great features IDB had. A large portion of TDN's database is inaccurate, though, they are working to fix it now that IDB is gone.

    could you please explain ::

I dont know if you read the link in this post before commenting, but neo has not 1% of anything to do with what he was talking about, lol.

And im pretty sure TDN was the website that finalhit refrenced as stealing their coding and database without asking permission. Considering that they already had a functioning battlepedia and was not listed as one of the players in getting offered the database, that is the only logical answer i can see.

IDB was never owned by JellyNeo and it only closed down because they lost everything when their host went bankrupt and they didn't take very good backups.
