Neocodex has been built on the contributions of many individuals who have each given their own time to build out a little part of our website. These people have made Neocodex what it is today. However, some of our many contributors are no longer active. In order to have our ranks be more up to date, organized, and reflect the current contributors to our website, the administration team is introducing a new rank, called Contributor. This new rank will help recognize such individuals who have benefitted Neocodex in some way, but are no longer active, or a part of any team within Neocodex.

This post is more of an update to inform you all about this new rank and let you know what it means.

If you have any questions, concerns, or comments, please direct them to the administration either through PM on the site, or by email at [email protected].

Thank you,
Hydrogen

I'm to guess more along the lines of them being part of the official Programming, Staff, etc team and not just a long standing contributing member.

Strange... the member list filters no longer have group filters so you can't see it readily. We've moved inactive junior programmers and the members of the long-dead graphics team to the group as well.

This rank was a good idea. There were a lot of lingering inactive ranks around.

    How does one attain 'Retired'?

The same way as with Advanced, but with votes/nominations from Retired members.

Sadly, this does not quench my unending thirst for juicy chisme.

The velociraptor is being a little unfair. I mean, I laughed, but let's be real. Even if he takes all his programs away, and never returns... his posts remain.
I have this one favorited, because it always makes me laugh.
And even if he takes all his posts away, you can't deny the time he's spent as a middleman, and helping people in IRC. He might have given MAC users a hard time publicly, but in the past, I've personally seen him answer idiotic questions in the chatroom. I mean, I personally cannot stand the thought of the treacherous, selfish little asshole, but I like to think I still have a little clarity. :p

Its so lovely to know that, as long as I was programming for free, it was okay. But the second that I stop, I'm a treacherous, selfish asshole.

People should tell you that every day for collecting your pay check. How dare you ask that people reward you for your hard work (Or at least work). You should be doing everything for charity. Who cares if you have bills to pay. People need stuff for free, while at the same time, making fun of the person who gave it to them.

The problem is how you chose to stop programming for Codex, not why you did it.

You act like yesterday I woke up and said "Okay, I'm done, remove everything, bye"

This has been going on for over a month. I've tried very hard to resolve things, but they insist on treating me like I'm not worth anything, and I dislike that, considering that I viewed them all as my close friend.

I had every intention of leaving the programs there forever, when I first went on strike, but things change, and its came to the point where I cannot feel okay with letting them remain like this.

I feel bad for the community, and I hate that people are now without programs that they used daily. But this was the choice of the admins, to let things go to this point.

    Thank you, Punk.

Edit: I wanted to expand upon this to say, that I am glad I am not the only person who is willing to put themselves out there and recognize some of the merits in iargue's "contributions."

While I know I have not been here very long and certainly don't know everything, I would like to think that that in itself works in my favor, as I am a little less clouded by the mob mentality or whatever bitchfits might have occurred in the past.

The part about you being a treacherous, selfish asshole has absolutely nothing to do with the programs.

Well, look at his response to me putting myself out there to recognize his 'merits'. He takes the one negative thing and spins it around to cloud it's meaning. I understand you've only been here for a short time, but you can't be blind to the past. Despite his failings, people here have considered him a friend, a colleague, an acquaintance. He has shit on every single person, even if they have his best interests at heart. So, you know. It gets the the point where it's like... Fuck him, basically.

Oh I totally get that. However, I also understand that he is likely on the defensive right now, as pretty much everyone is lambasting him mercilessly. So it would make sense to me that he see something negative and run with it. It doesn't make it any less disheartening, I know.

    2) Get negative attention

It's interesting that all this drama could have been avoided by one sentence:

"Sorry, I can no longer afford to volunteer my time for free and am therefore unable to continue programming for Neocodex."

How would that have resolved any drama at all?

I love it when people have no clue at all why I asked them to remove my code, and just assume I'm doing it for certain reasons.

No wai, not enough attention comes with that sentence.
