OK so this is the deal.

I currently have an HP Pavilion dv7, which i bought in April of 2009. I like it. I does everything i need it to and then some. It has 4GB of RAM, a 300some GB hard drive, and is running on the AMD Turion X2 Dual-Core Mobile RM-72 2.10 GHz processor. Yes i'm still using Vista..... anyhow, the laptop is slowly starting to die on me. First, the HDMI output went out, and now it's beginning to finally do some pretty weird shit. When I put it to sleep of shut it down, it's almost impossible to get it to start back up again.... I have to unplug it, take out the battery, push the power button, hold it, start it up again, and then after a few tries it might actually work, otherwise, it acts like it is starting up (all of the lights and crap will light up) but the screen will remain dark, and it will just stay that way until i take out the battery, because half of the time holding the power button does nothing.

Anyways, i managed to get all of my important things off of this dying machine onto a portable hard drive, and now i'm looking for a new laptop to replace this one.

I'm not a big gamer, the most I ever do is Neopets really. I do a lot of internet browsing, and mainly utalize this laptop for college use ( Microsoft word, access and excel).
I also watch A LOT of movies online, along with some anime shows. so it would be great if it could easily handle that kind of stuff (HULU, Netflix, ect) it broke my heart when my HDMI output died because i could no longer use my big screen TV to watch the movies :(

I have been looking around and have found this: www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i3+Processor+/+14%26%2334%3B+Display+-+Dark+Umber/3441137.p?id=1218402860624&skuId=3441137

I need your guy's suggestions and inputs. Maybe someone knows a better laptop out there for me. I'm trying to stay under $800, and i'm not exactly tech savvy, so please dumb it down for me.

THANK YOU!!!!

I'll probably be purchasing one before the beginning of the week.

I know just about all of you know more about this than me, which is why i'm coming here for help :p

I guess i'll just have to figure this one out myself :(

That one should be able to cope fine with what you want to do with it, it won't be able to handle very recent games but you've already said that you're not really wanting to do that so it doesn't matter.

Like waser said, that should be able to do the job :)

personally I don't like HP products, my girlfriends HP Pavilion was a POS, as soon as the warranty was over port after port died off as well as her wireless card, finally the mobo went and we burned that shit in a fire.

She has a new Gateway laptop that she really likes. She got an i5/4G RAM/640GB HDD/15.6" for only around $400 after discount sales and what not.
