I might have sat through the Road Warrior once. I liked the villians and the transformation of Max as this nice family man to vengeful killer in the first movie. The villians in the second movie were over the top ridiculous, and were a horrible misrepresentation of homosexuality. Also, the clothing of the people in the colony and that retarded feral child were too 80's feeling to me, whereas the first Mad Max, made rather cheaply, had a timeless quality about it. The Mad Max trilogy takes place in the future. It's hard for me to look at this and think, "Headbands like these will make a comeback"

The dog was okay, though.

It was the over-the-top costumes and musical accompaniment that I enjoyed the most. It happened to be playing one night while a few friends and I were stoned at his house. It some how really captured our attention and we really liked it. I later watched the first one out of curiosity but didn't enjoy it as much.

    In no order:

    • "Death Proof"
    • Pan's Labyrinth
    • Black Swan
    • Saving Private Ryan
    • Fried Green Tomatoes
    • Kill Bill Vol. 1
    • Juno
    • Babel
    • Inception
    • [Rec]
    • The Fall
    • Black Snake Moan
Currently watching a movie called "Brick" on Netflix. So far so good. [:

But as a standalone film it was poorly plotted, and made no sense, leaping from a disconnected nonsense script to ill-concieved, half-realised, meaningless special effects, and back again.

Point being? S/he posted it because he liked it. Lol...

I'm too indecisive to post my top 5, but some movies I like include:

The Fox & the Hound (this movie makes me sob from the opening credits; it's so bittersweet ;~;)
    Inception
Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows
    Spirited Away
    Finding Nemo
    Insidious

... annnnd I can't think of anymore. I like a lot of Disney princess movies though. :p

Ohh, the Hangover was pretty good, even though I wasn't really paying attention when my friends played it.

... how old are you? I know you're under 20. Why are you watching movies that are in black and white? Did you see this movie by accident? I'm confused.

Have you seen any Marx Brothers movies? Harpo Marx has a large penis. Not Chico, though.

If you enjoy RAPE, you'll LOVE the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
I saw the original Swedish version, and heard the American version's rape scenes are 'more intense'. I'd seen old ladies carrying around the book when it was hot a year or two ago, and after I read the first one I was like, "GRANDMA, WHY??"

It seems only fitting that sweet old ladies would cleverly disguise their obscene entertainment in books. How else could they keep up the charade?

Bah that movie had me sleeping in a half hour the first time I attempted watching it. Slugged through like a soldier the second time but aside from 'pure genius' or whatever some baloney might lead you to believe to be a good cinema, the movie was not entertaining. I buy tickets expecting nothing more and nothing less than entertainment, I am disappointed frequently but occasionally a good movie or two pops out. 2011 was a filibuster in my opinion other than the first couple of months.

Anyhoo, throw 'I am Legend' on my list.

    A few I haven't seen listed yet...
    • Enter The Dragon
    • Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
    • Hero
    • Snakes on a Plane - more of a joke than a movie, but it's great if you're watching with friends
    • W.
    • What Dreams May Come
    • Layer Cake
    • Pretty much anything by Kevin Smith, including Dogma, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, and Clerks. Clerks II is a semi-worth it sequel. Definitely watch the original first though.

I'll come back after I finish my beer to list a few more.

    Second list:
    • Restrepo
    • The Fountain
    • Pi
    • Requiem For a Dream
    • Caddyshack
    • Fahrenheit 9/11
    • Bowling for Columbine
    • We Live in Public - best documentary evar!
    • 2001: A Space Odyssey - kinda serious recommendation, kinda if you want to fall asleep
    • 50/50 wasn't bad for a hollywood film (cliched ending)
    • Breakfast at Tiffany's
    • The Life Aquatic with Steve Zizzou
    • The Darjeeling Limited
    • Bottlerocket
    • Rushmore
    • The Royal Tenenbaums

Films others have said that I'd also recommend:
    • 12 Angry Men
    • Dr. Strangelove
    • Office Space
    • American History X
    • Juno
    • Quentin Tarantino films, including Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs, Jackie Brown, etc.
    • Boondock Saints

That should last you a while :p

The part that really pissed me off was she ate the fucking grape. She was specifically instructed not to! And she fucking ate it. I pretended the monster's chamber had some spell that tempted her to but still...otherwise it's great film. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Torrent the swedish version, it came out like 2 years ago I think. The ratings don't seem to be as good as this new english one but the girl is played by a hotter actress...so there's that. To be fair though the english one's actress is also pretty good looking but they really amped up the goth.

haha I was yelling at my t.v screaming profanities. I too like to think it was some sort of voodoo magic instead of gluttony. I was almost certain that monster thing was going to come out into her world later on in the movie because she dropped a piece of chalk behind.

I've just watched Margin Call, which, as you might imagine, is about securities trading. However instead of the usual fast-paced, action packed movie about guys shouting into phones for an hour and a half, this is more cerebral, more suspenseful. I don't recall a single shot of the trading floor, or of orders being shouted into phones.

The film also doesn't get bogged down with overly technical jargon or industry slang. Maybe I'm slightly biased as I make a habit of knowing something about securities, but I don't think the average viewer will have trouble understanding. At one point, Jeremy Irons's character even says "Speak as though you were talking to a small child, or, a Labrador retriever."

It does at points get a little existential, but given the subject matter, it's to be expected. No montages, no voice-overs, no soundtrack at all, really. Love the production style, and the cinematography was dynamic and engaging.

Very good film. Kevin Spacey, Mary McDonnell, Simon Baker, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Stanley Tucci and a great supporting cast.

It's also the director's first feature film. J.C. Chandor - a man to watch.
