If we go with the 5 movies I've watched most in the past few years:
1. Tommy Boy
2. Slapshot
3. The Big Lebowski
4. Gladiator
5. Blazing Saddles

Now, my actual top 5 is really hard to decide, and is subject to change within seconds of me posting this list:
1. Usual Suspects (Seriously, one of my favorite movies by far)
2. The Great Escape
3. Shawshank Redemption
4. [I just feel like I have to put a Russell Crowe movie on here, but I can't decide, I really enjoy all of the following] Cinderella Man, Gladiator, A Beautiful Mind
5. American History X

I've just watched Margin Call, which, as you might imagine, is about securities trading. However instead of the usual fast-paced, action packed movie about guys shouting into phones for an hour and a half, this is more cerebral, more suspenseful. I don't recall a single shot of the trading floor, or of orders being shouted into phones.

The film also doesn't get bogged down with overly technical jargon or industry slang. Maybe I'm slightly biased as I make a habit of knowing something about securities, but I don't think the average viewer will have trouble understanding. At one point, Jeremy Irons's character even says "Speak as though you were talking to a small child, or, a Labrador retriever."

It does at points get a little existential, but given the subject matter, it's to be expected. No montages, no voice-overs, no soundtrack at all, really. Love the production style, and the cinematography was dynamic and engaging.

Very good film. Kevin Spacey, Mary McDonnell, Simon Baker, Jeremy Irons, Zachary Quinto, Stanley Tucci and a great supporting cast.

It's also the director's first feature film. J.C. Chandor - a man to watch.

Looks interesting. Do you know if it's on netflix?

I don't have a netflix account ATM. The film came out in September of this past year though, so probably not yet.

Haven't paid in 6 months? Sure it isn't automatically being charged? Mine always was.

I had an account, but I went from employed yet poor to unemployed and broke.
