i agree. it seems kinda funny to me that when there are FAR greater issues that need attention, the us gov't is focused on social issues and how to deal with this so called "internet problem"...how about dealing with the "unemployment problem" or the "deficit problem"?

I'm thinking about it, honestly. I have to do 4 years in the Navy first, and that time doesn't start until 2013, so I won't be able to enter any political field until at least 2017. By then we will all be fucked to no end. -sigh- Let me just wave my American flag and pretend that I have faith that our elected "leaders" will figure something out.
Honestly though, I hate how in America we preach about "freedom of speech" and countries that don't allow freedoms are "evil." They are taking away OUR freedoms by censoring the internet, but it's okay because "we're America. We do whatever we want."
Fuck it. I hope this years elections show that we (everyone else) won't sit by at let Congress run shit they want to. Dusty old farts need to be removed from office.

Yes, ACTA is the work of all the evil in the world.
But unfortunately the alternative to Obama wears even darker horns, so Obama remains the country's only chance. I'm hoping to hear Obama score another double majority so that we might (FINALLY) get to see real reform; I've remained in Canada my entire childhood and education because of the healthcare (I just got free stitches last week simply by showing I.D.; mind you we still live in a "big brother" system, so my trip to the hospital and all of those details are 'fair game' to any Thought Police who may want to know) - but now I'm seriously considering a new life in New York or Michigan (with dual citizenship I could easily border hop for benefits anyway)
Another standpoint: ACTA IS HORRIBLE, but do really you think Obama's supreme court would convict anyone under the age of 30 (for anything less than hundreds of thousands of dollars)? Especially should another double majority occur? Posting something like a recipe - out of book - onto your blog amounts to *maybe* $12k worth of 'intellectual property damage' -- If someone with a law background can give a better estimate of some of the 'common situations' we've heard of (like music on a YouTube video), I'd love to hear it, because I don't think that most ACTA cases would amount to much more than Small Claims Court amounts (in Canada Small Claims can be up to $50k for corporate entities).
