Waste of money.

Get a powerful PC instead of paying extra for something you could modify on your own.

Just saying...

Wow, you're getting a cintiq? That's awesome.

I'd get the smaller one but that's just my preference. I wouldn't like a tablet that is that big.

What are you using at the moment?

I'm not using anything... So i stopped really practicing because its just that big of a difference.
Before i had the even smaller one.... The Cintiq 12 something.
But its so much easier to draw using a pen then your mouse.
I was using it on Z-Brush, Photoshop, and Mudbox.

Ah ok, I'd so get one if I could afford it lol

My brother is a 3D character/environment artist and he does all that sculpting too. We got an intuos but he prefers to use a smaller bamboo lol Don't ask why.

But yeah, I'd go with the smaller one mate.

I guess it depends on what your job is or the reason you need one.

It's a pretty big investment for a hobby in my opinion.
The boss of a friend of my got a CINTIQ 24HD size tablet for his 3d projects and they were thrilled with the results. They are a pretty good 3d firm and they charge big bucks for their work.

I got an intous tipe tablet because I've grown to like not having my hand over the drawing. Mine is for personal projects and it's obviously less expensive but at work i wouldn't mind working on a cintiq...as long as I'm not paying .

judging from your comment I'll say you've never worked with a tablet. Plus following your train of thought that would mean that all the Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Simpsons , EA, Ubisoft, Blizard etc designers are "gay"....Posted Image

I never implied that using a tablet makes you gay.

Shit are you actually retarded? How do you have sex with a tablet?

Geez, I wish I had that kind of money to throw around on a Cintiq! I'd go for the smaller one, but that's just me. I had been using my graphire3 4x5" for 7 years before I got a large intuos4 =D. Although honestly, I didn't notice it being easier or anything.. but maybe because I pretty much stopped drawing for 5 years so it just seemed harder than before at first.

Although I miss my small 4x5 tablet for playing games :(. I have to move my arm too much on the large one.

You don't need a fancy car to drive fast... But driving a Ferrari is probably a lot funner then driving a broken down truck.

Don't judge tablets until you use one. Especially one of these...

I definitely don't "got that kind of money to throw around"
it has taken me a long time to save that money... But its my hobby so I'm willing to spend it on a tablet.

Yeah but a truck doesn't burst into treats when you're not driving on a perfect road.

Yeah, I've used tablets before.

A tablet screen is a lot better than the pad variety because the pad disconnects what you are doing with your hand from what is happening on the screen.

In other words for the purposes of digital painting, a tablet screen is far superior than (mouse, non screen wacom tablet, etc) because its allows you to paint digitally without having to disconnect the pen from the painting

Drawing with a non screen wacom tablet is like drawing with a mouse, except you have much more control. however its still weird because the movements allowed by the pen is restricted to the small space allowed on the wacom tablet. Not to mention that you cannot see your hand obviously and you have to learn to draw with a space restriction. Whereas on a screen you would be drawing as though the screen is your canvas

Wacom Tablets > iPad & other tablets. (For drawing.)

Well, it's been my hobby for the last 8-9 years too, but spending $600 on my intuos was more than enough. There's no way for me to save up that much money since I usually make some bank in the summer but then it slowly dwindles throughout the school year until I'm pretty much broke by summer again :/
