I didn't breed them on purpose. I didn't have the money to get them fixed, nor buy a second cage to separate them, and I couldn't get anyone to take one of my rats before it was too late. I only got the second cage after the female got pregnant so it was already too late. So how about instead of criticizing me on a situation I am dealing with, not you, you help me out? Or anyone really. And I will find them homes, I'm confident in that.
If you didn't have the money to responsibly care for your animals, you shouldn't have gotten them in the first place. That being said, I hope you're able to find homes for all of the babies, and I hope their owners don't make the same mistake.

this is not attacking but voicing our opinion. if you had informed yourself properly before getting them you might have been able to see what gender they are yourself. you could also have taken them to a vet to let them check. it just pisses me off if people get 15 rat babies out of irresposible behavior.
At the age they were when I got them, there was no way to tell, they look exactly the same at that age.
And I don't recall titling this topic "My rats had babies, come tell me what a horrible person I am" or "I have 14 baby rats, tell me what I should've done differently even though it's too late now but waste your time anyway". I'm asking for help. You people are acting like I'm breeding fighting dogs, fucking gawd. If you're not going to help me then stop jumping my shit because OBVIOUSLY it's too late now and everything you're saying is just a waste of your time and my time. So quick to judge but never to help. If it were any of you, I'd do anything in my power to help you instead of "voicing my opinion" which gets us all no where.

Then why wouldn't you temporarily separate them as a precaution, prior to having them checked out by a vet?
We're not trying to attack you or accuse you of being a bad pet owner. I'm sure you love and care for your animals as much as the rest of us. However, when you post a thread like this, you're subjecting yourself to criticism. I wish I could help you, but unfortunately, I live across the country, and many of the other members live in different parts of the world.

i said in my first post that i would gladly help you out with the money to get your rats fixed so that doesn't happen again. i am also telling you what you could have done and should maybe do in the future, if you decide to get another animal or keep the babies or whatnot. i've had rats myself, together with a lot of other pets and it definiitely IS possible to see what gender they are at the age they can be taken away from their mom.
This isn't going to happen again, I don't need your money.
Telling me what I could've done and should do is NOT helping me. Finding people who would give them a good home, that is helping me. So unless the next thing you have to say is that you know 14 people near me who would love to have a pet rat, then just don't waste your time.

Frankly, posting this on a neopets forum reeks of desperation.

I think he only has a snake at the moment, but I recall him having some mice as well, but unfortunately they all ran away. I'm pretty sure he mentioned buy a new mouse every week or so. I'm sure he'd love 14 rats to play with his snake.

Thanks. That would be a last resort, but I'll definitely keep that in mind. I appreciate the help. You can let your friend know about this if you'd like.

I don't think OP would have to abandon her baby rats in an animal shelter, since the pet store might be happy to buy them. Stuff happens, animals pop out babies, what's with the drama? I'm sure those all those rats would use up less resources than perhaps a couple of larger pets. My cousin's dog churns out puppies like some sort of puppy factory, but no one jumps on her to get her dogs fixed. The puppies are always so adorable they get adopted in no time.
I hope you find good homes for your baby rats Eve!

They're rats
Eve I admire your obvious concern for these 14 cuddly little carrion creatures but I am sure you're not going to incur much karmic debt if you set them free, give them to a pet store or sell them to someone who does have a snake
At any rate you have about 4 weeks before they start multiplying exponentially.
But for the love of god separate the parents if you haven't already. Mom can get pregnant again the same day she has the babies.

Or she's a puppy faerie who gifts puppies that people might otherwise have to pay $50 for.
...$50? Even dogs that come from illegal puppy mills are sold for more than $50, much more, and a dog from a reputable breeder can go into the thousands.
Having a dog that "pops out puppies like a factory" is backyard breeding and is disgusting and horribly irresponsible. There is nothing ~cutsey~ about it.
The backyard breeder is the singe greatest cause of pet overpopulation. Backyard breeders usually do not have bad intentions, but the results of back yard breeding are devastating. The majority of homeless or abandoned dogs come from this category in many popular breeds and mixes, they are often destroyed in pounds. Most are sold locally through newspaper ads - the responsibility ends when the purchaser's taillights disappear from sight.
As someone who works with an animal rescue, people like your cousin who don't get their dogs fixed and allow them to breed all over the place because "hurrdurr they're so cute" sicken me. It's irresponsible and unfair to all of the dogs involved, especially the mother. How would you like to churn out babies constantly? Assuming she's not a licensed breeder and isn't qualified to breed, sell or adopt out puppies, guess where a lot of them are ending up? Pounds, shelters, puppy mills or dead, due to health and behavioural problems that frequently arise from irresponsible breeding. Still think it's cute?
OP:
give them to a pet store or sell them to someone who does have a snake
This.

While I appreciate your horror-stricken concern (I'm going to assume the country you're in is America), the people she gives her puppies to are all friends, family friends, friends recommended by trusted family/friends. So no, her puppies all find amazing homes
Since when did people get so militant about pets? When I was growing up, giving away puppies/kittens/guinea pigs/any-adorable-pet-creature-here was pretty commonplace.
