I was wondering, and since it is better and much more updated than before, is the new Neopets premium membership worth getting?

Here are the benefits (as quoted from the site):

  • Adopt and 5th Neopet
  • Earn double Neopoints with Premium Featured Game
  • Boost your searching power with the Super Shop Wizard
  • Get Weekly Space Faerie Scratchcards
  • No Ads
  • Get Bonus Neopoints monthly

So do you guys think it is worth spending $7.95 every month for these perks? ($3.95 for the first month)

Let me know. I am debating on whether to spend that amount.

Probably depends on how much the 5th Neopet means to you. I'm rather tempted by that. The SSW is the other good perk, though it has restrictions in the # of searches you can do, and certain items you're not allowed to search for, which is a bit silly to me but there you have it. SSW alone is probably not worth the $8/month imo.

5th pet is virtually useless to me, I only keep one on the only account I have premium on for the practicality of training.

I've been wondering for a while what happens to the 5th pet after you deactivate your premium. I'm assuming you get to keep it? Not like I'd get premium for the extra pet, just curious

    > You can get rid of ads and change the theme using userstyles so that's not really much of a selling point

How much bonus NPs do you get per month? If it's anything less than say even 100k it's seems pretty negligible

I've always been Premium, since it was launched in 2004.

5th pet means zilch to me, I probably won't ever bother with (a single extra pet is silly IMO)

SSW makes me millions. ;) I've gotten 2 RFFR for 400 np, Hanso Charisma Charm for 1k, someone sniped an Ice Scorchstone a few weeks ago for like 10k. Etc

You don't get to keep the 5th pet, if you lose premium you have to either transfer it or pound it. If you get rid of it though, it stays "in limbo" for 90 days incase you get premium again. (No one but you can adopt it for that 90 days)

The monthly NP you get is minimal, I never even pay attention to it.

To be fair the question is more like "what does $7.95" mean to you. Its a pretty small amount for most people but for kids on pocket money, or students etc it can seem like alot to fork out each month.

In my opinion Its probably going to be buggy for a couple of weeks so I would leave it for a bit and then decide, get some feedback from current members etc.

I bought premium the first hour it came out - but I still have no premium options.....so yeh.

I haven't gotten a single premium SHH yet. :p lol

And I play the PHP games to their max daily.

and of course as SOON as I post this, I get my first one. xD lol

I'm confused. So what's new about that? I guess portal is removed?

But you get a 5th pet... and you get a few extra thousand NP a month. But... that's it? No new features? no unlimited super shop wizards or anything?

To me personally, it doesn't seem worth it. 7.95 is a really high price for something like this, lots of other sites have many more features for their paid users, and it costs much less. Heck, I could have nearly 8 million Neopoints per month if I wanted to spend that cash on neo.

Just want to add, been playing NQ2 for a few hours this morning and have received around 50+ items, random cheap books etc and probably around 50k in 1-5k's in the SHH, they are going crazy for me at the moment.

The SSW is my main reason, as well as the Premium boards.

I've sniped so much from the SSW, makes it all worth it. :)

I'm tempted to try it out for a month while it's cheap, not really for the 5th pet but for the SSW & SHHs.

    What's SSH?

I wouldn't buy Premium, simply because I make enough NP from Habi(sssss :p) to get by. And the other features aren't worth it to me. The 5th pet is nice, except I don't want to pay monthly rent for it to live on my account.

SSW is very useful and can help you get many of the Unbuyables you missed with Abroisia for only 99,999 which can lead you to make millions easily...

I got premium a while back just because it's so much easier to get unfrozen. I've had tickets responded to in a few days rather than months.

I liked the old premium better though. I used the portal a lot, and I hate not being able to see my stocks, shops, guild, and auctions all in one place. The 5th pet thing is cool, but I don't think it should automatically go away when you cancel. I would have liked it more if TNT would have matched your time... so if you have premium a month, you get to keep the pet a month after you cancel.

I haven't gotten any special random events yet either.

Like Kiwiwi said, I think it'd be smart to try it for yourself for the first month since it's only $4.

I had premium a long time ago on a really old account (probally got purged). I'll be getting it when I get off my side account. I need the SSW for training my pets (since you can find really cheap codestones/dubloons/neggs with just one search), plus it'll help me price my shop so I may sell items faster. As for the 5th pet, I don't really need a fifth pet, but I like to help out pounded pets on my side account (by adopting and zapping them and then re-pouding them so someone may adopt a pretty painted pet. Just got a rainbow jubjub zap today) and I'd like to do that on my main. Plus, there's the fact tickets get responsed to faster (I mentioned getting premium in mine and I got a reply the same day..but now the "sugestion" email to fix everything seems to have been delayed)

I have premium and havent paid for it personally for the past two years ;) Use money made from selling ABed shit and its basically free. SSW is great. Ive made multi-millions from snipes, of which I sell and pay for premium too. Vicious cycle it is hehe

What kind of stuff do you guys snipe? I've never been able to find anything good since most of the commonly sniped items are blocked. I just use the SSW to price my shop.

Someone told me that you seem to receive more random events when using Premium... can anyone agree or disagree with that statement?

I'm horribly interested in getting Premium for the fifth pet slot, SSW, and boards, but I think the selling point for me would be if the above statement was generally true.

You get special premium random events, which yes, happen often. Apparently they're going crazy currently, a lot of people are getting 25+ a day, though I haven't gotten any. Most of the random events are finding a few thousand neopoints or getting a cheap item. Occasionally you'll find an UB though. You also get a space scratchcard once a week, which I'm pretty sure are impossible to lose on.

I am probably going to get it just for the faster customer service.
