Suit yourself. It taught me that our planet is only about 6,000 (which is a smaller number than 3.4 billion) years old. Finally, ten years ago?

I just can't watch it... I tried I really did
Perhaps it told you that the world was that young, but I can't imagine that it taught it to you. There is no teaching to that argument, it's just not true

Either I'm just lucky, or it's just that the idiots in any group are usually the loudest.

I don't know many crazy religious people, but I watched the other day the Westeboro church or something like that, they are fucking insane, with their "Thank god for 9/11" posters, it makes me feel sick.

I have such a hard time understanding how they come to the conclusion that the earth is 6000 years old. There is no science in that whatsoever. Adding up the ages of every family member recorded in a book is no good way to determine how old the earth is.
Besides, how do they know that "day 1" didn't last millions of years? Even if the beginning of the universe had a divine spark, I hardly think you can speed up the birth and death of stars that put all of the stuff into the universe that made up...well... everything in it.
My entire family are Christians, my brother is actually a preacher. I think I will ask them how old they think the earth is.

I find a lot of people refuse to accept science, they say it's purely based on theories and speculation...
it is only slightly worse than when people preach science or make claims without understanding it. Think string theory. Recently. Iargue.

Well, it is true that science is highly theoric but some things sound like common sense to me and the God explanation just doesn't.

One of my Facebook friends proudly posted pictures of his family's trip to the 'Creation Museum' a while ago.

And I'm definitely a Christian, but I agree that many people take it way too far, and it's just not right to take your beliefs and impose them onto anyone else.
