Poll: Reb abuse (40 member(s) have cast votes)

Is giving unnecessary +reps abusing the rep system, considering it is abuse to give -rep unnecessarily?

Thank you.

Nymph, were you being serious and that isn't Matthew from Newsradio? Sometimes I don't get the joke.

Ignore is a good feature.

The only thing I would see as +rep abuse would be going to someone's profile, viewing all their posts and clicking plus on each and every one of them. Similar to neg bombing a single person by the same method.

I don't see any rep abuse.

Speaking of which, why is my ability to rep gone?

I can't really vote in this poll because "unnecessary" differs case by case and is usually a matter of opinion.

I understand the point of +rep. I'm assuming it's a way to show that you agree with something or that you find something funny without having to quote it and say "agreed" and/or "lol". But personally don't get the point of -rep. If the person is saying something breaking the rules, it can just be reported. If the person is saying something you disagree with, I think it's better to just quote the person and explain why you disagree with them which can lead to more discussion. Idk can someone fill me in on the point?

That's where you're going wrong. Try growing up a bit and perhaps you will see.

Yes. If someone does not need rep for what they have done why give it to them. Though sometimes it is hard to judge if something is rep worthy.

I use -rep for sheer stupidity, spamming or people who're being complete douchebags.
In reality, no it means nothing, but on here you see red and go "oh I wonder why" then find out.

I'd +rep you if I could

It's stupid that it's being discussed this much, people are getting in trouble for "rep abuse" and whatnot. We have a 4 page thread with people getting their panties in a bunch over something that has NO value. Really??

My panties are fine, I just think if people are using rep as a weapon to hurt people, they should have it taken away.

A weapon?! We are talking about the little green up arrow and red down arrow, right? Come on now :p

If the person doing it didn't think it mattered they wouldn't bother doing it. These things work both ways.

Makes it even more lame and childish when people do it. It's like taking someone's parking spot to get on their nerves. Even though it (usually) doesn't matter where people park, that shit happens all the time, because people are idiots.
