Where I live, almost every callback for interview etc will use a private number.

So if you don't answer them, you're fucking yourself over.

Nope. I don't get "restricted" calls, but if I don't know the number I don't answer. I have at least 7-10 voicemails waiting for me that I'll never listen to, I just hit the delete key (7) as soon as they start playing

Same. I usually see who called and I call them back without listening to the messages unless it's from an unknown or restricted number.

My phone provider only lets us screen 13 numbers, and they sell the numbers to telemarketers, so the phone rings pretty much off the hook all day. I've had to turn off the ringer and stop using my phone completely because of it. Even with being on the 'do not call' list.

Sadly they're the only choice we have for phone service in the area. I'd get a cell phone but I live in an area that gets no cell reception either, so I'm pretty much screwed there.

Answer pretty much being, no I don't answer any of it.

If I see a number I don't recognize, but with my home area code, I answer. I'm very popular with the other stores, so they call me if they need someone to cover a shift. I swear, even if the same store calls three times, it's a different number each time

If the call's from somewhere like the Cayman Islands, I'll answer just to see if it's a person and I can screw with their heads

I don't answer calls that show up as "unknown number" or any numbers I don't know. Sometimes I don't even answer numbers I do know. I have pissed off many people because of this. I try to avoid giving my number out because people only call when they want me to do something for them, or they want to hang out when I don't want to go anywhere. I also hate talking on the phone, it always results in long, awkward pauses because I never have anything I want to talk to them about if they're calling just to chat. I'm perfectly fine with e-mail though, I don't know why my friends call me when they all know the easiest way to contact me is through e-mail. I've never gotten any creepy calls, just guys who call random numbers and try to start a conversation when a girl answers.

I hate talking on the phone too. I feel like if anyone wants to talk to me they should text me and i'll get to it when I get to it. But there's still stubborn people who insist on calling me and get mad when I don't pick up.

People I know who call me usually text to tell me they're calling unless it's important. Other than that, I only answer calls in my area code or my old area code.

Normally I would but lately we've just been getting these private calls from some "insurance" company.... It's too much hassle to answer it and say We don't want any! in a silly accent eeeevverry time

50/50 for me. I have customers call me quite frequently so if it's during the day, I'll answer. If not, I'll wait for the voicemail.

If I'm near a computer, I can usually google the number quickly enough and see whether it's company from a business that I cover.

I answer whoever it is, unknown or not. Could be something important... you never know.
