And why is that?

How does it not? It's every bit as relevant. You either value your time or you don't, and in a service based industry, the consumer's time is damned well important.

I collect real money now.

The consumer's time is important, I agree. However, unless thousands of consumers boycott Neopets just because they're advertising premium too much, it doesn't hurt Neopets at all to do that. It's safe to say that there are very few, if any, users pissed off enough by this to quit the game.

Premium users are worth more to them than free users are. Advertising aggressively is going to nab them many more premium users while losing very few free users.

So essentially your time is important and better spent elsewhere.

I have nothing against that, what I do have an issue with is you simply saying, "it's a business, get over it."

Perhaps I've missed something but what freedoms have they taken away exactly? O_o

In a metaphorical sense, equality. In a literal sense, ads. You never had ads on the site prior to around 2003-2004.

We were never arguing about why or why not I play.
We were arguing about the fact that you think it's wrong that they're doing it.

I've never seen an ad on Neopets so I'm pretty sure my freedoms are all intact. :p

At the end of the day Neopets is a business and it costs money to provide the service they do. If they can get more people to sign up to their premium service through a few ads (which are easily blocked) then that can be invested in paying more staff to provide additional functionality to both free and premium users alike. It's not as big a deal as you seem to be making out, it's actually a perfectly sensible way for them to increase revenue whilst also providing the same game functionality to regular users as they always have done.

Are they not entitled to some revenue?

Non-Premium members get ads because they play the site for free.

I'd much rather see an ad then have neo become pay for play.

To add to this, since the premium re-release we've seen a huge boost in ticket response times for premium and regular users alike.

I would say that this alone warrants for increased ads beyond that which they are already employing.

I used to be premium but I can't afford it right now.
I am however glad that they are advertising premium more aggressively because the more money they make the more money they will be inclined to put back into the site.

...and they actually seem to be listening to the Charter now, taking suggestions and what not.

This. The only freedom that they've taken away is that of the square section of your screen that the ad takes up.

This became quite a topic. XD I think personally Neopets is running low on money and people are not buying NC as much as they used to so they decided to actually advertise premium but I don't care because every serious Neopets player already knows about premium and where to get it and has already decided to get it or not.

I really don't think they're advertising it too much. The ads don't encroach on anything else you're doing on the site, it's not like there's a pop-up about it every time you load a new page and unlike some other sites, paying for premium doesn't really give any massively unfair advantage. At the end of the day, they are a business and they need to have some level of income to pay staff and keep the bulk of the site free to play.

The ad's aren't really too intrusive into your gameplay, and I do not find them giving me an incentive to spend $7.99 a month on Premium, especially for the minimal benefits it gives.

The ads don't seem overly obnoxious or anything to me... the only one that is slightly annoying is the "free neopoints" ad that makes it seem like you get loaded with NP every month, when really it's... a few thousand? Less? And only because they seem a bit misleading. If those ads weren't there you'd be staring at more kotex and driving in California ads anyways. I have a bunch of those scratchcards piled up too since I never remember to check. Literally only paying for the SSW to price and snipe. I only keep a premium on 1 or 2 mains, and the other accounts never see the site much anyways because of lolprograms, and even if I play games after awhile it just blends into the background, doesn't it? At least they aren't popups/click to continue or something stupid :S (yet)

Still $8 a month seems a bit pricey for just the SSW and (if you're into pets) the fifth slot. IMO the old premium with portal, mail SHH system, the display on side, pop out SSW etc... was much nicer even though it was buggy as hell

I would probably have to say TNT are very money-driven now. I completely understand where they're coming from though!

But it's a little excessive, and, IMO, the perks aren't ask great as they could be.
