I have not been on neopets for a long time and came on to see the new premium button in the navigation bar and now the signs when you log in example:

I mean does the premium really need its own spot on the navigation bar?

They also added a 5th pet only to premium users and revamped there premium page.

I am, and have been for many years, a premium member.

I for one can say that I feel as though they should find ways to advertise premium more. It's way better than wasting money on a one time purchase of NC. At least with premium you do get other perks, namely the SSW. I only have 1 pet so the 5 pet thing doesn't appeal to me but that doesn't take away from the many other perks included.

Premium so isn't worth it. If you don't want ads you can use the adblock add on. The only perk is the ssw. The fifth pet is ok since I like being able to have all my permanents on one account and still borrow pets, but I could easily do without.

From a non-premium member, they're advertising too much with just the premium on the task bar. Just seeing it close to your Neopoints makesyou think about premium more than necessary

I believe SSW and the special RE's are worth it

I reckon they can advertise it wherever they want, considering it's their website. However I don't think it's really worthwile for me right now, considering I use adblock, I've already got several accounts to house my pets, and a free 10k or whatever is hardly anything to me right now :p So the only thing I would really want is the SSW, but if you refresh enough, you can find VERY cheap prices anyway..and I've found an awesome app on chrome that streamlines the wiz, so its quicker to load as well ;)

Yeah, they are. It's like every other page has an ad of some sort for premium...

Yep TNT are kinda milking it out, I mean if it were a one time pay than monthly then I would have got it long ago.

Well at least NC is forever, NX cash from Maplestory Expires after 3 months, most of it, if I am not wrong, NC was meant to expire after 90 days too but they changed it.

Premium's (tangible) benefits besides SSW being...? Spending $70 a year on NC can actually be profitable, if you invest in the right items.

    Exactly.

I don't really mind the amount of premium advertising too much. Though for the amount they are pushing it I think it does need some more worthwhile features. SSW isn't really enough to pay for and a 5th pet I don't really fucking care about :/

    That's just my opinion though.

Yes, Premium needs a space on the navigation bar. Previously, they offered no direct links to managing or changing information on your Premium Account. (Unless you went to premium.neopets.com) Almost every site I know that offers a Premium type service offers a direct link to managing your membership.

Premium has been around since 2004 and hasn't been updated or changed and previously, they NEVER advertised Premium at all.
I don't see the big deal. Sure it seems less "worth" the money (noting that I've ALWAYS been Premium since it was in beta) and I'm disappointed with it but I still love it. Lol

i dont really think premium is worth it. The features are quite limited, not much benefits to earn more neopoints. they should allow permium to send 5 time for normal game, or some other better benefits , not really attractive enough. the monthly subscription not cheap also.

I had premium for like 6 months before, was useless, got nothing out of it. I don't care if they advertise it though, it doesn't get in my way.

I've been wanting premium for years and finally subscribed after they launch the new premium for half price. While I can't say much because I never had premium before but I have to say that I quite like premium. :)

The more people that see it, the more money they make. It's a business.
I make this same post every time it is anything commercially related to Neopets.

That isn't true in the slightest. Just because it's a business doesn't mean they have the liberty to do whatever the fuck they want. Time is a valuable resource, and people could very well go spend their time somewhere else. Even if it's a free game, it doesn't mean you're open to do whatever you want.

They're hardly crucifying orphans, they're just advertising their premium service which they're fully entitled to do. It's not like it even really affects the game play of people not interested in getting premium.

Furthermore they're not even advertising it in an opposing, flashy, over the top way.

Imagine if every single page load it took you to a screen that was flashing saying BUY PREMIUM TODAY TO SKIP THIS AD!!! Then you have to scroll all the way down and click No Thanks to get back to click a single button and do that again. If they wanted to they would have every right to make each and every player go through this. It is their site and they are entitled to do whatever they want with it. Instead of focusing on one annoying little aspect why not appreciate what they're not putting you through?

    Yes, they fucking do.
It's their business. You could go spend your time elsewhere, but you won't. And the children who the game is directly targeted to won't either.

I am well aware of that. However, I'm tired of hearing the "it's a free game gtfo" or "its a business gtfo" argument. It's wrong. It's not event a good point. Yet people throw it everywhere like sprinkling Parmesan cheese.

That isn't my point. Okay, sure, they're entitled to do whatever they want. Why don't they put images of giant penises on there? They're in a service industry. It exists to serve the users, not the other way around. The same is true of a democratic government, but as the US shows, it's the other way around. What I don't like is the fact that you seem perfectly fine with the fact that you're being stripped of your freedoms little by little.

That isn't true either. You cheat because this game isn't worthwhile enough to play. Therefore, this game isn't worth your time and consequently, you don't play. Since you're on here, I'm assuming you're cheating through scoresending or ABing. If you're not, why don't you actually restock and why don't you actually play the flash games to make NP? You wouldn't be fine entering a restaurant and having advertisements being served along with a menu. Sure, you can ignore it, but how many people would actually come back.

I don't cheat. I don't even play this game. I'm here because I like the people and I get a lot of employees/freelancers for my own business.
And it is true. No one is forcing you to play the game. You could quit any time you want. What you said has zero relevance to my original comment.

    And why is that?

How does it not? It's every bit as relevant. You either value your time or you don't, and in a service based industry, the consumer's time is damned well important.
