it can do everything you need it to do, it has a lot of memory, the iphone 5 is supposed to have a sick awesome camera( front and back) and you can use the account you have on the ipod for the iphone. the interents really fast and the iphone 5 is supposed to have a keyboard. plus everyone has iphones so you can imessage haha.
if you do get an iphone though make sure you get it a case cause its made of glass and if you're like me it would be shattered already

Angry Birds and Words with Friends have Android counterparts. From the looks of it DragonVale will be coming (there's something called Dragon City which is apparently close) in the future. All the other features you listed could also be obtained through apps through Google Play.
Apparently with the retina screen reading text is a really pleasurable experience. Additionally the Camera on the 4S is one of the best so one could only imagine that they'll improve on it. Plus they have accessories such as a DSLR lens (no idea how good it actually is) to make it even better.
Just hold out till the 5 is announced, if it sounds great get it. If not you could still get the Nexus then (HTC The One X is also really nice if you want android)

My husband has the HTC Hero and it makes me want to kick kittens. It has to be the shittiest phone I've ever encountered so Androids are waaaay out the door for me.
That's because its a 3 year old phone running a 4 year old OS. The Galaxy runs on the newest Jellybean, something that blows the shit out of any other previous OS. However, if you're looking for a decent Android, the better alternative is the Galaxy S3, which is by far the better in terms of hardware.
I don't know where the fuck rockets is getting his information as the Galaxy always had the superior camera, with a 8.0 MP on the back and a 2.0 on the front.
There's no difference between the retina display and the super AMOLED display from either phone.

I did say one of the best. Not the best.

My mistake, I read it as the best.

Get the Galaxy S3. Its far better than the iphone 4, and if the releases have been any indication, the iphone 5 will not beat it in hardware.
Samsung phones are lighter then the iphone, and thinner. They also do not need a case to not get broken when you accidentally drop them. Though getting a case is usually a good choice.
Overall, there isn't a huge different between phones. They both do a bunch, and both have good tech. What (in my mind) is the number 1 reason you should get an Samsung phone over Iphone is what you do not have to worry about Apple controlling your life.
There are about 10,000 cases of apple rejecting apps from the store for no reason, or rejecting them because they contain the word sex (Like a dictionary app) or rejecting them because you can read the kama sutra (While of course, allowing the playboy app). with a samsung you have the much more lax google play, plus the option to easily install third party apps whenever you want (included crack ones, shame on you).
Go with samsung, because Apple has deemed that they want to control 100% of your life (Can't sync without itunes. Forced to use DRM. Etc). Freedom is important.

The Nexus on the other hand will have other Android successors shortly after.

I initially switched to the Gnex as I wanted to experience the whole Android thing. I've found that both phones have their pluses and minuses...
iPhone
-------------
+ Ease of use -- The iPhone is incredibly easy to use. Everything seems very natural on it and it's truly dummy proof.
+ Battery Life -- I could usually have my iPhone go nearly two full days without needing to charge with heavy use. Nearly three days with light use.
+ Apps! -- There are over half a million apps on the App Store! The App Store is secure and trustworthy and largely reliable.
+ Media Playback (EXCEPTION: Flash): I really love the iPhone's music playing software... Maybe just because it is familiar as I used an iPod for years and years but it is just really simple and I like the way the music is displayed.
+ Easy to sync up: If you are even remotely competent with iTunes this thing is a breeze to transfer media to and from and it automatically backs everything up to your computer when you sync it up. (Also does it over iCloud now....)
- Tweaking: If you're into tweaking your phone into oblivion the iPhone is not for you. You pretty much will have the same way apps are displayed, the phone is locked, etc regardless of your preferences. You can obviously change the wallpaper but you can't change things like button layout. (You can move apps around though)
- 3.5" Display: The current iPhone has a nice fit in your hand and I really like that about it... but the screen can be too small if you're attempting to play video from it.
Samsung Galaxy Nexus (NOTE: I have my phone rooted and I (somewhat) frequently put custom ROMs onto it and tweak it a lot...)
------------------------------
+ Screen Size: 4.65" screen. What's not to love?!?!
+ Customization: You can change ANYTHING on this phone... (well... anything software related...) I really enjoy that I can put customer items on my lock screen for easy access... or that I can turn various functions off and on from my navigation bar at the top.
+ 4G LTE: If you are a Verizon customer like I am then this will likely matter to you if you have 4G in your area. (Even if you don't.... I was a manager at a call center for Verizon not too long ago and I can tell you that they have plans to launch 4G in every city that currently has 3G by the end of this year/First quarter of 2013.) 4G LTE is BLAZING fast. (NOTE: iPhone "5" is rumored to have 4G so this may be a moot point.) I find that I very rarely actually have to use any data, though.. I'm usually somewhere that WiFi is available.
- Camera Quality: It has a 5MP camera and features a really cool zero lag shutter speed. (Meaning you can take a ton of photos in a really short time.) Unfortunately, my photos always come out grainy or otherwise generally poor compared to the photos I've taken on my iPhone previously. (and that was just the iPhone 4...)
- Signal Quality: I've had frequent issues with this phone just dropping signal. I can have 5 bars and then my phone will try to switch to 3G then back... etc. It seems to have gone away since the 4.0.4 update but it was a real PITA when I bought the phone on launch date.
- Reliability: Unlike the iPhone, I don't find this phone reliable. Sometimes I will have to manually power it off/remove the battery or it will just lag like hell. (Note: This is quite possibly the result of something that I've mucked up. As of my recent ROM update this seems to have cleared up but it has been an ongoing battle.)
- Battery Life: It's not terrible.. but I can't make it two days without charging. It will die by noon or so of the next day. Not so bad if you charge it daily but sometimes you forget, ya know?
- Screen Resolution: Although the Gnex has the larger screen, I think the iPhone has a better screen resolution.
Overall: I plan on buying the new iPhone at retail price when it comes out. The android experiment has been fun and all and has even been improving with the most recent ROM installs but I miss the reliability of my iPhone. Although the Android does win in terms of customization, I find that I rarely actually need/use most of my customizations. Apps seem better integrated on iOS and there are a wider variety. So if my advice as both an iPhone and a Galaxy Nexus owner is worth anything, I'd recommend the iPhone for your needs. (Though if your needs differ from mine and you can live with some of the minuses I highlighted above in exchange for the pluses then the GNex may be the phone for you.)
I hope this was helpful! If you have any Verizon questions you can feel free to ask me as well. Oh yeah! I forgot to mention.. My managerial position was at a call center doing technical support... We handle and track all of the calls and warranty replacements processed on every phone that we offer. Let me assure you that the iPhone is by FAR the better phone in regards to lack of need for technical support/warranty replacements. (Though the GNex has a lot fewer known issues/reports requiring warranty replacement than most other androids on the market.)
