(Please feel free to close this topic in 5 days--school starts then and there will be no use for this :D)

So I'm in a bit of a dilemma...

For all of you high-school & post-graduate students & anyone else who wants to answer:

Which class should I take senior year? AP Literature or Economics Honors?

I want to stay in the top 10 of my class (I was number 9 with a 5.5 GPA, but I feel like I've gone up, since my GPA is now a 6.4 because of extra summer classes) but I already have the credits for AP Lit. If I take AP Literature, then I have to take Economics H online (which isn't bad, it's only half a semester though)

But I don't want to have to do all the essays and reading & the AP exam during the year if I take the class o;

Which class should I take? Or should I take Econ online & take another class in place of Literature?x:

Note: I haven't started my summer assignment for AP Literature, but the Economics teacher is a dick. (I've had a class with him before, he personally picks on students and the "good" ones too)

Class Ranks freeze at the end of the first semester. I know rank is kind of pointless (unless you're either valedictorian or salutatorian), but I just wanted to make my Asian parent proud..cause if I don't ->> :shuriken:

If there are any other classes you feel I should take, please suggest them as well! Thanks! :p

EDIT: I want to become a pediatrician :D

I took both AP English and AP Econ in high school and loved both of them. I guess it comes down to the teacher and your interest in the subject. If you have an interest in economics you don't want an asshole teacher to ruin it for you. Also, the skills you learn in AP Lit will likely be more useful in the long-run, unless you're pursuing a career in economics. Also, AP credits are a huge money-saver, I'm saving nearly $30k with mine.

I would say go for AP Lit, even if it isn't as good for your class rank you'll (hopefully) get more from the class.

OR take Econ online and take a fun (one might say blow-off) class. That way you'll have a smaller workload and avoid the teacher.

Take AP Literature. In terms of college, AP's allowed me to skip 5 mandatory classes that everyone needed to take at my school, English Adv. Composition being one of them. It'll be a time saver in the future. Honors Classes does nothing for college class bypasses.

You don't have to take the AP class to take the AP test. I took the AP Literature test without taking the class and I still passed it. I'd go with Econ.

I already have the credits for AP Literature because I took a college course over the summer, but I was considering taking Lit this year to bump up my GPA o; But then I was wondering if I already have the necessary credits for college, why would I need to do the class x:

And I was thinking about taking an elective, cause it's my senior year after all :p
I would take AP Econ, but I was supposed to apply last year & opted for AP Lit instead x.x

EDIT: and in order to earn a credit for AP Literature, I needed to earn a 4 for the AP Language exam which I took last year PLUS take the college class and pass, which I did, but I didn't get my scores until July, so that's why I couldn't take AP Econ >.<

Yeah, I AP'd out of four tests without actually taking the classes for them.

This sounds like a pretty intense high school though.

Oh, I didn't realize that you already had the AP credit. I would probably take an elective and Econ online, in that case.

LOLLLL, it's not, my parents are just crazy and I'm terrified of them :p

I've always wanted to do that, but I wasn't sure how I'd take certain tests (like science or math) without passing them & I already took english x: I'm not sure if my school requires people to take the class though /:

There's textbooks available in book stores or even your local library you can use to study for the AP test without taking the class.

I feel like if I took an elective, it'd have to be medical-based. o; so that's why I'm not sure if I should take an occupation-based class (like genetics) or a fun class (like art or photography)

I procrastinate waaaay too much to study. :p If someone or something isn't forcing me (like a test for a class), I won't do it x.x
Cause I've tried to do that before for a class that barely gave out any work, and I earned a 2 on the exam xD

Well, you live in the south. A short prayer to Ronald Reagan is an appropriate substitute down there.

O: really?! Maybe it's cause I'm in Florida, and Florida's crazy.

EDIT: Whoops. I read Bone's post above. :p

It's senior year I say go after all the college credit you don't have because once you send out those college applications there's nothing more you can do high school wise.

Top 10 HS graduate checking in. Inflate your grades, APs don't matter now that your college apps are already in.

I got credit for AP Lit and didn't have to take any English courses in Uni. Do you know how fucking great that is? They read like a book a week. So be happy having those credits.

Take whatever classes get you the highest GPA.

If you have the chance, I would take dual credit classes with a local college. It helps out a lot, and was more beneficial to me than the AP classes.

I can't apply for anymore AP classes because students were supposed to register at the end of last year with a recommendation x: nor can I apply for dual enrollment again because I missed the deadline o; but I took four classes starting the second half of my junior year. So right now my only options are AP + Honors, which is..eh.
I've heard the AP Literature course was rigorious in my school, but as of right now, I have the nicest lady I know and I feel like I shouldn't waste the opportunity when I have a great teacher. But I don't know if all the work for that class is going to be worth it for credits I already have + a .08 bump in GPA for half of a semester. I know every little bit counts but I don't want to have to spend three hours writing an essay or reading a book every day.

Butttttt, I don't know if I'm going to regret taking Econ online + an elective, if that's what I decide. I procrastinate too much & stay up late (like most teenagers), but I hate knowing that I could've done better.

Ugh, this seems so easy but when I think about it, it feels so hard. |:

Bumping this because I don't know what class(es) to take to replace AP Literature and I don't want to ask my guidance counselor because she's retarded as fuck.
