It's sad but a fact of life.

He helped shape our world, advance science, etc. Sure it could have been any man, chosen for the position so that in of itself isn't amazing but he was apart of something enormous (and I don't think people today realize how huge it was) that helped shape the way our lives are today

    I noticed.

Edit: this is a reply to sweeney's status. Which was that he had posted BA to see whether anyone would notice. Just to clear that up before anyone else neg reps me for seeming like a heartless prick.

Armstrong was just a lucky guy to be at the right place at the right time.

It wouldn't be that sad. People die. Its a way of life. But when you realize that Obama and all politicians want to end space exploration, you realize how sad it is. There is a huge possibility he will be the last one to walk on the moon. Who really knows.

I was heartbroken when I saw it on the news!
He gained his place in History doing what he loved, he will always be remembered and admired for his accomplishments.

What about other countries though? Didn't something space-related happen in China not too long ago with that one woman? :0
But eh, huge possibility... You never know! :p

There is no chance that he will be the last to walk on the moon, he already isn't the last to walk on the moon...

It just like with russia. They have accomplished a fraction of what we have done. This sets us up to at least a hundred years to land someone on mars (NASA predicted 2030 for it, but they won't get the funding they need). Eventually we will make it, from another country, or from america finally wising up. Its just not where it should be. All it takes is a war, or an disaster, or "global warming" and humanity can go bye bye.

I'll rephrase that to be "One of the last people to walk on the moon, as there won't be any more"

I vote he should be buried in moon rock. After all, they still have like 800 pounds of it left over :|

That would be pretty expensive given how much moon rocks are worth. :/ It seems pretty wasteful to just bury it given the state of the economy at the moment.

Aw, well he was old. That's what happens when you get old.
James Doohan's ashes were blasted into space. That's a pretty cool option.

I was sad when I heard it on the news. Then I heard that he was 82, which is pretty old. Furthermore, he walked around on the moon. How much more can you achieve in your life? He must've been a happy man. So I think it's not that sad now.
