I know start up time is now almost half as fast as it would take Windows 7 to start up but I just went into play the Sims 3 when on Windows 7 it was around 30 - 40 fps and now with Windows 8 it is 60 - 90 fps. Sometimes even 100 fps and I changed nothing except upgrading OS. Seems a big jump just upgrading my OS but does anyone else have Windows 8 and noticed a enhanced game performance.

Windows 8 is great and anyone who says it's trying to kill PC gaming, is a dumbass who has never used it.

Definitely not killing PC gaming. Clearly is making the experience of gaming better.

"Half as fast" is a stupid way to construct a phrase.

While I've not used it yet myself, I'm not a fan of the videos I've watched at all and I'll likely be sticking with Windows 7.
    I already have a 7.4 windows experience score, so I'm happy. :p

I have Windows 8 on one of my computers and haven't really noticed increased game performance. The startup and shutdown times are heavenly compared to the 1-2 minutes I used to get, though.

Sounds like they're finally catching up to Linux.

Windows 8 for start up for me is around 40 seconds but my computer is fairly new.

I heard Steam and NVIDIA are making an initiative to make gaming on Linux better. That's cute.

OT: Windows 8 hardly adds any performance increases when it comes to gaming, so I dunno why you've suddenly got more fps...

I don't know why they are bothering to try and bring their closed source system over to Linux.

Probably lies just in having newer drivers. I switched to windows 8 about a week ago and haven't noticed a remarkable boost to the games I've played.
