I have a question for everyone that uses our programs:

Let's say that we had the technology to let you:

a) Turn various programs on/off remotely.
b) Look at your program logs remotely.
c) Change various settings remotely.
d) Since this would all be through a mobile-themed website, compatibility with any mobile phone with access to internet (iPhone, Android, BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, etc...)
e) Do all of this securely through public/private key encryption.

Would you personally use this service? If packaged with Advanced Membership, would it inflate your view of the worth of the Advanced Membership?

Yes to all.
That would be insanely useful.

I'd be willing to pay a small sub for those additions even.

Yeah I'd defintely use it.

As far as the worth of Advanced, i'd say it increases it but it'd be better if users had a choice between paying more to use it or not. Every one might not find it as useful as me.

Oh, I'd love all of those for when I get my new iPhone! ( My current phone has internet but its very cheap so all i can do is check the news fron the hompage).
They all sound so useful and wonderful! Especially the 1st one about turning programs on/off remotely.
Be a great thing (in my opinion) to add to the advanced membership package.

Hell yes! I seem to access the site more so on my phone than what I do on my computer at home :p So this would be extremely useful to me as well.

I would absolutely use this! Its a great way to check logs/use programs when I'm not at my computer as is true most days when I'm on rotations!

I think this would be great although I'd use it on my android based tablet, if that'd work! ^_^

I'm assuming that I'd be able to operate Abrosia from it then? I've screwed something up on my desktop and can't download ANYTHING from the internet; so, I sadly have no Program Manager until someone fixes it or I get a laptop/new desktop. :/

No, you would still need your computer to be on and everything. The mobile app would just be for sending commands to your running Abrosia. :p

I talked with Hydro and ran through the steps to make this, and this project is definitely feasible. We want to know how much support there is for it though.

Aww, crud. :p I'd definitely use it if I could! In the future, I'd use it!

I already use a similar app on my android for accessing programs on the PC, but I wouldn't mind using one solely for codex programs.

Yes I'd totally use that. I accidentally left the AB running the other day without the scheduler on, and something like you described for the Android would have been perfect.

I'm sure I suggested this to Pyro ages ago. :p

I think it would be useful for emergencies/situations where you accidentally leave abrosia running without scheduler, but I doubt I would use it (of course I still haven't managed to get advanced, ah the inconvenience of not having paypal, yet maybe it's more useful for more serious ABers)

I'd use it, definitely. It'd be awesome if it wasn't an advanced exclusive feature. Maybe limit it for the non-advanced users?

Was working on this a bit last night -- think I've ironed out all the hard parts of this project so that's good.

I'll have to talk to the others about what tier level we'll offer this service at. It's definitely exclusive to Neocodex. :p

Looks like it's worth it to make it then. :p

I've just finished a proof of concept where I was able to turn Abrosia on and off remotely. :p Still lots of work to do, but the groundwork for the system is almost all there now.

This concept will be extended to all of our programs soon after I finish the controls for Abrosia. :D

We'd also be interested to hear if anybody has any good suggestions for what we could name this feature (the staff are all pretty uncreative when it comes to that kind of thing it seems :p). If you have a good suggestion for a name you can PM or email it to us ([email protected]) and we might be able to create a poll to decide the final name in the future. ;)

* Changed that to [email protected] so we all get a message. :p

Yes, please suggest things for us to add to this remote controller system.

I was contemplating adding a scheduler system too, but I was wondering if it would be better to add that to the Program Manager on a global level. Need to think this one out a bit more.
