It costs like 500 dollars to become incorporated in Canada, hope it wasn't that pricey in the states :(

I think it's something like $800 a year in tax, Hydro will know for sure.

It is worth it anyway, to incorporate this website, given the nature of this business. Runescape, for example, went after it's third party software developers, at least now if Neopets (if they legally can, that is) did the same it wouldn't suck as bad. :)

It's a bit different to Runescape because Runescape cheats tend to modify the client and therefore they're using Jagex's own code which would be illegal whereas we don't use any of Neopets' own code and merely replicate normal user behaviour externally so it should be fine. :p

There are (to my knowledge) copyrighted images from Neopets being used in some of the programs, for example, Cellblock (the only one I checked), and since that particular program has an advanced membership feature it's technically being used to sell the product. I could be wrong though as laws change from different jurisdictions. Not that I care what images are being used, anyway lmao.

If I remember correctly, it's simply pulling from the data that the Neopets website is giving you. I know for the Pyramids player, it's just showing you what the regular site would be showing you if you were actually playing the game.

That one works differently, what I'm referring to is just an image displayed on the program, not a part of its actual function, as far as I can tell.

Hm, yeah, the image in the programs might be an issue. We should try to take those out.

Wasn't there someone working on new logos for the programs?

Not that I'm aware of... but then again, I'm not aware of a lot of things :p.

It costs about $300 to get all the paperwork done with the route we chose to go. There is also an $800 LLC tax that must be paid every year to the state.

My mind is completely blown. NeoCodex a COMPANY? WTF!?!? How?!

I hardly have words to say. I'd appreciate if someone could give me a detailed description/history of how this all became...... I am so baffled that I almost feel a prank is being played on me.

Have to say Congrats though! I'm soooo surprised. From what this has come to since 2004.... Wow.

They would have to serve a DMCA notice on the images first before they are allowed to file a lawsuit. If they file a DMCA notice on the images, the can be removed fairly quickly.

Splice was, but I think that project died at about the time that I was removed from the team.

    No clue.

I thought the first post was reason enough?

Neocodex has a great subscription service going that nets them enough money to afford it. Hydrogen doesn't want his personal assents effected because he's planning on starting a family in the future, so hes made it an LLC to prevent that. If the site starts making less then 800 + server costs a year, he might have to change that.
