I had a drop down box where I could choose auto-renew or not, but the drop down box was there while the cancelation bug in the store was being fixed, so I'm pretty sure it's not there anymore.

I managed to pull this from in the announcements thread:

I have now disabled the non-automatic renewal payment methods since the store should now respect your decision to cancel and should inform Paypal of that decision.

Here's the title of that thread in the announcements forum: Auto-renew features removed from payment gateways.

( reading though it, the drop box that allowed you to select auto renew or not, was indeed there but only to help with the bug that was messing up cancelations of advanced membership. The bug has been fixed, so I think the drop down box is gone now and advanced does auto-renew itself)

Sorry if this is confusing. Perhaps Hydrogen could shed some light on this better than I can (or make what I've said clearer in someway)

Thank you satsuki, I would really like to go for it but I don't want it to auto renew because it causes hassle for when I want it to stop

You can cancel it if you decide you don't want it. That's in the client area. It's in purchases, and when you click the name if what you purchased, it'll come up with a side bar with a cancel option on it. I don't know what it does when you hit the cancel button (it just may be a pop up asking if your sure or something). Before, it was very confusing to cancel because of PayPal issues with it, but they've fixed everything so it's easier to cancel it now. (I personally haven't used the cancel option though, so I can't give too much info on what happens when you click the cancel option).

I'll just say, I don't believe canceling now is a hassle anymore (as it was before due to the bug, which has been fixed)

Perhaps you could PM (private message) Hydrogen to ask about exactly what happens with the cancel button?
