He has had these in storage for some time now. He wis hes to sell them and or donate them at the end. Money is tight for him so that's his motive.

Our arguement occured once we talked about dollars. His arguement was that the books may be worth more because they were owned by a Rabbi. Now his has said not because he was dead...but because of the fact that Jews would know that a Rabbi would have a slew of books going though different subjects. These books aren't really old either. Most are paper/hardback books of just normal looking books. Nothing really old though. Most are dated probably in the 2000's.

Wouldn't a buyer just see dollars signs at the end of the day. Unless he was some famous Rabbi which he wasn't. How do I approach this really? We both plan on splitting the $ at the end I think.

If the books aren't even that old (can you still buy them?) it is likely they aren't going to be worth much to old book collectors. Try and lookup what similar ones are selling for online? Or you could keep them for a while (like a long while) and wait for them to inflate value..? Or just pawn them or something?

Edit: You could always just split the pile of books between you, and he does what he wants with his, and you can look after yours?

The books are probably of little to no value. Being a Rabbi does not increase the value of your possessions.
