I don't know how many of you guys are Redditors, but some of the guys over at /r/neopets theorized that this "plot" is not a plot, but instead only a war, i.e., there will be no role-playing or puzzle elements, only Battledome. What do you guys think?

It's def not a plot because the obelisk war banner marquee on the front page says event and not plot. The faeries ruin banner had plot on its corner.

I meant a war with no puzzles, I wasn't commenting on the quality of the war.

As long as it's not a yearly "event" I think it'll be fun.  Doing AC every year and the repetitive games totally kills the fun.

Honestly I'll be surprised if it's anything more than the leadup to a much-needed revamp of Tyrannia.

Haha, well that could be right. I don't know whether calling it an 'event' vs a 'war' is anything more than semantics. I don't think TNT cares about being that specific with its vocabulary.

 

But I agree that with the caps and lack of HP raise it's not really a true war.

No, it being an event rather than a war pretty much means that there is no story to it, just random fighting. The lack of faction stats is pretty disappointing for me.

I just with it had updating point totals so one could know in real time what their progress was.

They had that in the Maraquan war, right?

I'm curious what happens after someone claimed the obelisk. Maybe there are puzzles inside. You never know

Yup, been training my main BD pet like crazy for the past few days, so I was able to beat the second wave on hard.  It might also have to do with the fact that I'm on level 19, so none of the abilities are that great (trying to stay on this level as long as possible since it's cheaper to train).  I don't really mind that much as long as we get cake in the end!

4th wave of challengers is out in BD, and I find it slightly ludicrous how powerful the challengers are. Considering that a large pool of players are casual and are probably not gonna be able to match the heights demanded by diff-lvl 350 Challengers, I wonder if this war/plot/whatchacallit is just a marketing gimmick (casks galore) or, even worse, a mass BD-testing. Half of us are just sitting on our paws, downing more health potions than BD challengers, and waiting for the damned obelisk to open up in the hopes that it lets more people participate.

I really hope Tyrannia gets its long-awaited update though 8)

PS: I can still tank the 175 challengers, but only just.
