I know you're being sarcastic, but I think you're actually right. Sure, it's "only 20px", but 20 pixels is 10% of the size limit. And even if it was 1% or 0.000001%, it'd still be over the limit...
Are we still on this? Why continue..?

There was no point fighting the issue. After seeing Strat's post it was clear he didn't care and Adam couldn't even see where he had screwed up. So, meh.
At least there's now precedent that the size limit is 550x200 ± 10% and that the Organiser also has the ability to allow entries that don't follow the rules.

He's making a valid point, I don't think it's fair for the SOTW host to get to arbitrarily draw the line of what's too big.

Why set rules in the first place if they're not gonna be followed lmao
Also dang, I wonder which signature is gonna win~

There's no precedent being set here. If you were any sort of an artist, you'd know that art should not be limited in the first place. The only catalyst that -should- stop an artist from expanding on their work, is themselves. Of course I'm not going to allow a damn wallpaper sized 'signature' to be entered, but we have to draw the line somewhere. I chose to allow slightly bigger signatures in because I have a respect for art. Clearly you care more about the guidelines then what this contest is really about, which is creativity. If you want to call my decision a screw up, then by all means go for it.
Also, please look up the difference between rules and guidelines. If the SOTW guidelines were indeed RULES then I would have been in the wrong. But seeing as they're guidelines... hopefully you get what I'm saying.
Also please note; Strategist and I have been working on a new contest. This contest will cater to those who enjoy making...larger pieces to express their artistic sides.

Just to clear things up a bit, the rules are created more as a sort of guideline on what should be entered. Specifically the size limits. Like Adam has said, obviously he wasn't going to allow a 1920x1080 sized pic, however, the size limit of 550x200 is to be used as a basic guideline to judge valid entries.
The organiser of the current competition has the right to allow or disallow entries that are slightly over the size limit IF THEY SO WISH. I am going to adjust the rules/guidelines now to include this.
If anyone has any objections to this, please discuss it with me via PM
If you have any suggestions, by all means let me know and I will take them into account.

Is it really that hard for you to admit you made a mistake?
You're very adamant on trying to get me to admit to a mistake; when I clearly knew what I was doing the whole time. Go away.

Yeah, no...
Brokentrustee - the rules state your entry must not exceed the size limit. Please submit a new entry and send it to me in a PM. You can no longer use this entry because it has gone public. All entries will be anonymous so there's no unfair voting.
Size Limit (550x200 pixels)

Brokentrustee's entry that he had posted though was WAY over the size limit, if I'm not mistaken. It was blatantly too big and was disallowed. The other entries here though, are a minor discrepancy.
I've allowed slightly larger entries in the past too, without any backlash. I have had people question it as well, yet they understand that such a small margin of error isn't that big of a deal.

They're never going to stop lol, I think iomega has a problem admitting they're wrong.
And yes Brokentrustee's entry was wallpaper sized. If it was slightly oversized, I would have allowed the entry.

I agree with this post.
When +/- 10% becomes the norm I'm sure we'll start seeing +/- 20% from entrants.. and then 30%.
Even ms paint tells you what your dimensions are. It's not hard to constrain your image to proportions unless you are blatantly ignoring the rules guidelines.

I think we should have this SOTW run as normal, then draw a line underneath the dimensions issues - in future only allow entries of the agreed size in the SOTW thread.
There's no point having everybody throw their opinion into the mix when this is a thread for voting.

This was a judgement call on my part; and I thought I was in the right for allowing entrants in who slightly broke the size guideline. I interpreted a guideline as there being some leeway and that is my judgement. Clearly people think I was wrong, and you're entitled to your opinion. Like most things throughout history, there has to be an error in the process in order to fix the machine as a whole. That machine is the SOTW; and if from now on that size guideline must be strictly adhered to, then so be it. But you've made your point, and I now ask that you let the thread run it's original course. I'll talk to Strategist about clarifying, in the rules, what's a rule and what is a guideline.
