I first started noticing today that on some of the items abrosia tried to buy but didn't, it says "Five second rule" instead of "Sold out." What does it mean?

You have to wait 5 seconds after buying an item before you can buy another. Sometimes Abrosia doesn't think it bought an item, when in actuality it did. This will cause it to not wait the normal 5 seconds and try to buy another item.

Thank you. It appears abrosia did indeed buy some items and not tell me about it. Rather profitable items too! :)

    Me too.

And if it stays on the ground longer than that, all you gotta do is just blow all the filth off it and it's still good to eat.
