Hi guys, recently I've been playing around a lot with graphics design projects in Adobe After Effects and thought, 'It would be great to make a promotional video for the site here!' So I fiddled around a bit in AE and came up with this:

 

 

I need your thoughts on whether or not it needs changes (one thing I am definitely changing is the font, not a fan of the standard Arial). I am open to harsh critiques or nice ones (preferred ).

 

I also knocked this up in a video form too (this is just a gif made from said video) that I hope to start using as an intro to some instructional videos I intend on making for the programs here.

Nice job, Strat! I think the building blocks thing is a bit too long (from 0:20 - 0:32). Other than that it's fantastic.

Wow, this is really awesome! I don't really see anything that I think needs changing. Even the font looks fine to me.

I think the font also fits. The only thing I'd change is probably the bevel on the icon, and the duration of the blocks. xD Maybe -5 seconds?

 

That signature reminds me of sonic rainboom.

I have no knowledge about video making/AE whatsoever so all I can say is.. woah The only thing that bothers me a bit is that the logo doesn't really fit to the rest of the video when it zooms out from the cubes to show the logo. Maybe you could make it bigger and choose a different effect instead of bevel/emboss.

 

The second one will look really nice as an intro

It's really good! You did a great job on the video.

I just have three suggestions:

1. Instead of the word 'awesome' you could use a more exciting word. (eg. 'Phenomenal' or 'Exceptional')
-maybe I'm just tired of seeing 'awesome' overused

2. Codex has been around for a LONG time so another idea could be to add that to the ending when 'NeoCodex' appears. (eg. Established in ____ or est. in ____)
-shows stability and/or prestige in a sense

3. The words for Neocodex could be brighter.
-the background of the video is pretty dark for the most part and making the 'NeoCodex' may help it 'pop out' more rather than somewhat blending in.

Just little ideas that may make the promo even more awesome than it already is.

EDIT: oh, as other people already mentioned, the block building part could be a tad shorter. Anticipation is good but we want the attention to be focused on the words 'NeoCodex' first and foremost. It should a lot of video time.

EDIT2: another way to make the block building part shorter while still being able to fit nicy with the background music is to make the initial text falling more dramatic/slower. (To clarify, the speed of the text falling shouldn't be slower but the duration the text stays still so the viewer can read can be delayed a bit.)

Though for me I think the music is a bit much. Maybe try something techy or electronic if you know what I mean? Kinda would fit a bit better in my opinion.

The one thing that really sticks out to me is that I'm not a huge fan of the word 'awesome' either (at least, not in this case. Maybe a more descriptive adjective or phrase?). But that's only personal preference. 

 

But the video looks fantabulous.   Love the music and effects.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! Keep them coming. I will take them on board and try and implement as many improvements as I can. I will also be uploading a 1080p HD version of it once I get it finalised.
