Hey, sorry for making a second thread in here in so short of time, but just thought of something else completely unrelated to the other thread.

This question is involving advanced membership... when one obtains the free membership through so many posts, would they only be able to use it on one ip?  Also, another question, if only one IP is allowed to be used for the forum account... wouldn't that mean I'd have to make multiple accounts to cover multiple ips?  If this is the case, would multiple accounts be against the rules for this forum?  Just wanting to ask these questions in advance, as I plan to switch to a dedicated server with a number of VPS all with unique ips.  Using VPS to organize things rather than have all clients in the same place.

You can use the programs on any number of IPs you want. You do not need multiple accounts to cover anything.

You are most likely referring to a Neopets account which you want to keep on a single IP.

Also you do not get the Advanced+ solely from posts. You get it from also contributing to the forum.

Yes, I understand that, I just meant getting the advanced from that route rather than paying for it.

As for accounts, no I was not referring to Neopets accounts.  I'm referring to the account to login to the program.  Being that it is a service that people pay to use, I thought there may be a limitation to number of ips it can be used from at the same time to avoid sharing.  So, this is why I am asking.  It will be only myself using the program, but I don't want to get my account locked or something for using it under multiple ips at the same time when I get my servers going.

Ie. Other programs I've used as well as programs I've written to automate services that are paid subscriptions typically only allow one ip at a time to be used.  You'll get locked for using multiple IPs.  I didn't see anything limiting this, but I figured since everything I've used in the past has had such limitations that I should ask this to clarify.

You're fine. We have no restrictions. People move. They log in elsewhere. The program has nothing to limit anyone to only autobuy from the depths of his/her trouser filled basement.

If the staff feels as if people are sharing accounts then they deal with it accordingly.

Alright, thanks.  Just wanted to clarify in advance as I'm a number crunching kind of guy so I like to get figures for costs layed out ahead of time.. as well as like to avoid potential problems if possible.  I will be able to provide proof that they are indeed my VPS servers if needed, not some random computers from many houses lol.  The ips will all be from the same location.

I don't understand why your Codex account would need to be under different IPs anyways. The programs only log into your Neopets accounts through the proxies you input in the programs.

I have two primary IP addresses. My home IP and my work IP, but I also login from my phone fairly often and that gives me a 3rd IP. Napiform and I moved a few months ago and all of our IP addresses changed. None of that matters, you may be logged in to multiple instances of Abrosia from your account at once.

Regarding multi-accounts and Neocodex it is actually completely against the rules to have more than one account or to share an account, especially if that account has higher privileges.

SOURCE: The Neocodex Rules (Long Version)

Section 7 - Accounts
7.1 - Members agree not to, in any way, "share" their account with another member. Rankings do not matter; sharing of accounts is strictly non-permissible. Neocodex does not let you own more than one account due to security and organizational purposes (unless you have a valid excuse).

  • 7.1.1 - Duplicate accounts will likely be investigated by staff, and are subject to deletion. Being a previously banned member will earn you another ban.
  • 7.1.2 - Sharing of accounts for the purposes of sharing higher privileges (such as advanced member access) will be considered an offence of rule 4.2, and action 4.2.2 will be taken on the user. Please note that doing this is also a violation of the TOS that you agree to if purchasing a subscription, so therefore, no compensation will be issued for subscribers.
  • 7.1.3 - Creating duplicate accounts in a disruptive way, or a way that bypasses an account restriction (such as trading post privileges or a suspension) will earn you 30% warn per instance, and an extension of your suspension if applicable.

Finally, regarding earning Advanced+ basically you are an Advanced Member that doesn't have to pay, there are several community members that had far exceeded the posting criteria set in place (500+ posts) and yet they were not voted in until much later. Off the top of my head it was Ivysaur (Pikachu/Venusaur), Tristen (Dorky), and myself that had exceeded the posting requirements. Other ways to earn Advanced+ include making substantial contributions to the community; creating good programs, finding AoBs, and writing guides are all ways of accomplishing this feat.

All in all, just be active and helpful. Try not to be annoying.

Because when I get to more accounts, I won't be running them from my home computer.  Therefore the actual ip would vary.  They'd be run from VPS I already have set up on one of my dedicated servers.

In regards to the account thing.. that's why I was asking ahead of time.  If it were limited to one IP per account, then I would have required multiple accounts to cover multiple ips.  That is why I brought that up..  Most automated programs have an ip limit to avoid sharing.. so I wanted to ask to be safe before using mine on multiple ips.

As for the advanced, I wasn't saying that posts is the way to get it, I just mentioned that to briefly clarify what I was talking about, differentiating between the paid and the free versions of advanced.  I don't actually expect to receive it, but there's always a chance it may happen.

The only real difference between Advanced and Advanced+ is the member group bar difference and access to the Advanced+ Voting forum. It's not even a prestige status. The only prestige member group we have is Retired and they (as far as I know) have not voted anyone new in for over a year now. There isn't an intermediate group just for prestige anymore though in the past we have had the Private member group which was a step between Advanced+ and Retired but due to issues it was removed and merged with the current Retired member group.

Yea, I don't really care about getting it to be honest.  If I get lucky, then so be it.  If not, then my $5 goes to help keep this going.  :)  Was only wondering as I was thinking I may have to spent more money per month to have multiple accounts to run on each of my VPS since different ips, in which case, the $5 would add up to a bit more.  I don't mind supporting something that helps me. :)

In the event anyone else stumbles in here and reads this thread because they searched Advanced+ in the search bar...

You can easily earn the 500+ prerequisite simply from posting in The Official Lab Ray Thread. You can get 365 non-spam posts in just one year by simply posting your lab results every day. You can earn another 365 non-spam posts by also posting in the Bilge Dice Stats Thread. These two threads require an absolute minimum in terms of unique posting quality to still be non-spam posts and in the course of one year will earn you 700 posts.

There are several other threads but the point is... these take hardly any work and you'll earn post increments which will eventually get you noticed; albeit not right away.
