I mostly draw humans and this is the first time I've tried drawing animals/neopets. So I'd really appreciate critique from folks who've seen this kind of art. (Neo's art board only contains people advertising BC entries. )

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to ask this (since I don't have access to the TP), but what does art(commisions) usually go for in terms of NP?

Oooh, that's great. Now I'm even more excited to enter the TP (it's a long wait...).

I've done an example; I'm not as confident with my writing (though I have gotten into the NT before). So if anyone would be willing to read/crit this, I'd really appreciate that. (It's pretty short, don't worry)

Years ago, in the far reaches of Meri Acres Farm, there lived a young Kacheek named Alton. As was the wont of the young Neopets in the area, Alton constantly dreamed about leaving his village and becoming a rich businessman in the famed city of Meridell. Unfortunately, he had neither the resources nor the knowledge to embark on this particular endeavor. However, on his eighteenth birthday, an interesting incident occurred which prompted him to leave.

Alton enjoyed his own company very much, which is why he'd escaped the birthday party his Neofriends had thrown for him, and was working on the farm. Pausing only to wipe his brow, the yellow Kacheek fixatedly harvested hundreds of potatoes from his family's land. He'd been farming for years now, but potatoes had always been his favourite crop.

He was harvesting his 200th potato when a dark silhouette on the horizon caught his attention. This surprised Alton; visitors were rare in Meri Acres. There was nothing to see for hundreds of miles but flat meadows and plains. The only object of interest in the area was the nearby Rubbish Heap, which wasn't exactly where most Neopians wanted to spend their vacation.

The figure approached Alton. He could see now that it was a Kyrii, with strange-colored fur and garments that Alton had never seen before. It took the Kacheek a moment to realise that the foreigner was wearing a <i>crown</i>. It shone brightly in the sunlight, an anomaly among the sparsely populated village.

The Kyrii was the first to speak. "Why, are those potatoes?" he exclaimed. "And hundreds of them, too."
Alton nodded, wondering why the Neopet was surprised over something that existed in abundance.

"Oh, my apologies. I haven't introduced myself. I'm Strider," said the Royal Kyrii, thrusting out a hand. Alton shook it hesitantly.
"My name's Alton," he replied.
"Great. So, are you selling these potatoes? I'll buy them at two thousand neopoints apiece."
"T-two thousand?!" exclaimed Alton. He'd never had more than a few thousand NP at a time. This foreigner was clearly filthy rich.

Strider blinked at Alton. "Oh, you don't know, do you? There's a shortage of potatoes in Meridell at the moment. They're inflating like crazy."
"Oh...Right, I knew that." replied the Kacheek. He had no idea what 'inflated' meant, but it sounded important.

Then he quickly added, “Sorry, I’m not selling these right now.”

“Fine.” Strider looked slightly annoyed, but he turned around and walked out the way he’d come. As Alton watched him disappear over the plains, the roots of an idea sprouted in the young Kacheek’s mind.

note: alton is the potato counter kacheek.
