I asked for GTA V for Xbox 360, and my grandmother got me it for the PC. Which my shitty PC can't even play. ;-;
Well, I'd sell that on eBay. It's not due for release for about three months. You could make a fortune.

Actually...got a goodie box shipped from my mother-in-law, choc full of goodies like peppermint chocolate truffles, various teas, some mocha almond coffee, home-jarred blackberry jam, and comfy house shoes for hubby and me.
It was all a very dear surprise!

Yummy. We didn't make any blackberry jam, but have gallons of the fruit frozen to make cobbler and berry baked biscuits.

My group of friends and I got each other cheap presents and used the money we would have really spent on each other for drinks at the bar on Thursday. I got these:

I love maternity clothes. I have tons of long sleeved shirts I got in the preggo section, even though I've never been pregnant and I've never been fat. I just like the length of the shirts.
My sister got me a one of those vaporizer dealies, with the hope it will wean me off smoking cigarettes.

It's actually a bunch of squirrels with a plastered black guy mask.

This Christmas I got an iHome portable speaker shaped like Minnie Mouse, a flatscreen tv, and my period.

I got some wine for Christmas, a keurig and some coffee to go with it. I told my family I wanted one, but I totally didn't expect to actually get one. This year was actually a surprise :3

Money, clothes, food, bath stuff, and a few cute things like bags and ornaments x)
I found a gingerbread popsicle in my stocking, which was something very new to me. Poor guy didn't last long.

I got: a lot of shirts, three cardigans, candles, nail polish, that expensive makeup I was talking about before (the palette is $75 but when my mom bought it they were having a put $100 in your cart and get $50 off so not a bad deal so she bought me CC cream along with it), lipstick, foundation, foundation powder, a Michael Kors purse, slippers, starbucks gift card, american eagle gift card, Paper Towns by John Green, a sweatshirt, a nativity figurine from my grandmother, and wine from my sister.
I'm spoiled.

I feel the same way. I'd rather have cash than gift cards, or at least one of those Visa AllAccess gift cards. My grandparents gave me a Kmart gift card and I dont even think there's a Kmart in my area.

I never understood the point of gift cards. Surely giving money is a lot better as you can spend it anywhere instead of one particular place?
Yeah, I see your point. The Starbucks one isn't bad though because my school just opened a Starbucks on campus. So... free coffee for a little while lol. I just hate how you get, say, $25 on a gift card... then you go buy something and everything adds up to more than what you have on the card. So you always somehow end up having to use your own money or buy something mediocre that's cheaper.

I was spoiled this year. Got a good chunk of money, razer kraken pro headset, zelda triforce nintendo 3ds xl with pokemon x, animal crossing, and luigi's mansion, like $100 worth of chocolate which might take me til summer to finish, a magic bullet, and some skincare stuff.. and I still feel like im forgetting some things :x

It just depends on where the gift card is to really. I never tend to have a problem with gift cards just because I either get a generic card or a place that I really love to shop. My family knows me well enough to not give me gift cards to somewhere I am never going to go lol

I think it's more to make the gifter feel good than give the giftee something they can use the way they want. The gifter still feels like they put effort into it cause they had to go to the store to buy it still, like you would a game or a book.
