How often is "on occasion?" Back when Matt smoked, I still smoked weed, and flavored cigarettes were still legal in the US, I'd smoke a cigarette or two every once in a while. While I enjoyed the physical act of smoking, cigarettes were never satisfying enough for me to crave them. I wouldn't even consider that a casual addiction.

Btw @Emily, my friend got a fancy evape recently. He used to be a fairly heavy smoker, started with the e-liquid containing nicotine, switched over to the nicotine-free stuff, and now says the only reason he continues to vape is because he wants to get his money's worth. I had the opportunity to hit his vape pen a couple times, and it's like having your own little pocket hookah.

Edit: I lied. I loved clove cigarettes.

Oooh, I really want one. I found one that was $30 dollars (the cheapest I could find, unfortunately). However, there was one on a site called Lizard Juice that doesn't seem too bad for the price.

Buuuut, it's 45 dollars. I'd rather go with the one that's 30... but I've tried to buy that one so many times. I just can't make a decision.

If you want to get into eCigs, you need to do a LOT of research before buying anything. ANYTHING.

Yeah, I've been contemplating it for two weeks. I'm just not sure.

The same could be said to the FDA.

Virtually no research has been done on these vaporizers.

Why? It's such a huge booming industry everything is relatively safe. As long as you use legitimate sites you'll be fine.

They're pretty new, though, and regulation and taxation hasn't really caught up to them just yet.

AFAIK just about anything eCig can be shipped straight from a Chinese factory to your door.

I meant it in the context of making sure you're buying quality. It's such a big booming industry that there are a lot of people putting out overpriced shit to capitalise on new customers' ignorance and make a quick buck.

Em, have you tried an e-hookah? Some of them contain nicotine, they come in lots of flavors, and they're much cheaper compared to e-cigs I think. They could be good if you just want something to fiddle with and keep your hands busy. I like them for that purpose :)

Just make sure whatever you end up buying is RoHS compliant and that there are no harmful materials in the air path and you should be fine. I can't say I know much about e-cigarettes, but I've researched and owned several traditional vaporizers and those are the things to look out for.

Yeah, that's true. I don't want to spend 40 bucks on a shitty product. The starter kit I was looking at that's 29 has a lot of good reviews, but it could always be the company telling their employs to write those to get the ratings up :p

Ooh, I looked them up. They look nice and they're not very expensive (I'm on a tight budget lol).

This is the one I was looking at. I can't tell if it's a good one or not.

I think they would be good since you're only "casually" addicted to cigs :) You can get them with or without nicotine, but it still feels like you're smoking something.

Mine ran out, I need to buy more lol

How long does it usually take them to run out? And yeah, I would help because I sit in a "smoking gazebo" (my university only allows people to smoke in these gazebos) on campus during the break between my classes. So it's hard to not smoke when you're around like 20 other people who are.

I think the ones I got had around 800 puffs. It lasted a good several weeks where both Dan and I were smoking it everyday.

Em here's a good thread on reddit comparing e-cigs and hookahs :)

Ahh in that case I completely agree. I just bought a start pack for about £40. It feels weird "smoking" indoors and at the pub.

Oh yeah, British people can't smoke in bars. That's so weird. If you should smoke anywhere, it's at the bar.

    So have you quit smoking?

We live about 2 hours away from a town where you aren't allowed to smoke outside. Anywhere.

This will soon be my school. We're going to be a completely smoke free campus next semester. You can't even bring vapes.

Someone has already burned down a smoking gazebo... and it's not the first time that has happened.

My campus went completely smoke free this year and it was a horrible experiment. There just isn't really any way to enforce it. Campus security can't really do much outside of giving warnings.

I have a personality that more or less inhibits addiction. If I ever find myself becoming overly reliant or dependant on any one thing, my natural response is to distance myself from it. It's largely why I've never had a single relationship last longer than three months (or at least that's what I tell myself every night to drown out the tears). I disqualify the internet as counting as addiction, for although I am reliant on it, a large part of that has to do with the fact that I work and study in IT, and without it I would stagnate. I need to keep moving.

All that being said, I spend too much time playing l4d2.

I'm kinda the opposite! I'll find myself getting interested in something and all of a sudden its a full on obsession. I'll think about it all the time, research it, spend all my money on it, etc. Then one day, like a switch, I'll be over it and on to the next thing. Its so ridiculous sometimes! My most recent obsession, different coffee making techniques.

Well, I'm the same, but I wouldn't count that as addiction. I think you've simply defined what it is to have a hobby.
