There are so many good concerts coming up this spring/summer in my area. WHY CAN'T I BE RICH?!

Do any of you guys go to concerts? if so, are there any you already have tickets to/already planning on going to?

I bought tickets for Fall Out Boy/Paramore a few weeks ago, stoked on that.

& I'm planning on going to warped tour this year, the lineup is pretty good IMO.  :)

But man... seriously, Vampire Weekend, Modest Mouse, The 1975, Emarosa, Weezer, Balance & Composure?? ugh, & those are just the few I can remember off the top of my head. haha

Yaaaay for Vampire Weekend and Modest Mouse! Saw Vampire Weekend when they were out here a few weeks ago and they were amazing! Modest Mouse haven't been out here in a few years from memory :(

All of our summer concerts have passed now (Australia), but i'm already hanging out for the lineup release of one of the major festivals in winter here - Splendour In the Grass.

Oh yeah, I guess its not gonna be spring/summer for everyone xD

Thats awesome! I really really wanna see Vampire Weekend. Lawn is like $35 though..... so I'm still debating.

Modest mouse is already sold out  :( they were $40, but now people/scalpers are selling them for $120+ on stubhub and all those other sites.

In Australia, a concert under $99 is like a gift from god. Do it for 35, you won't regret it!
Scalpers make me so mad. Splendour in the Grass (3 day festival) is usually around $360, but in previous years scalpers have been selling tickets for close to a thousand dollars. It's ridiculous :(

HOLY JEEEEZZ! Okay, I may have to do it for $35. xD

There is a big music festival a few states away that modest mouse is playing, this is the line-up:

(sorry those are links, its how it pasted)

its $150, for 3 days. Which isn't terrible, but its kind of soon & I'm kind of broke.  :lol2:

I guess I've been spoiled in the past with concerts. My bf used to book shows here, and I'd get guest listed, he also bounced at a pretty big venue here and could get me free/cheap tickets.

So paying more than $20-$30 always seems like a lot to me.

Oh wow, that lineup is killer! $150 is amazing. I don't even want to know what they'd charge for that same lineup here. There's a few on there that are playing at Sasquatch as well. One of these years i'll get over there for that festival :p
I've seen the National so many times and I fall in love more and more each time.
$20-30 for shows is unheard of, i'm pretty jealous!

I just saw St. Vincent earlier this month, it was incredible.

Unfortunately, I don't have as much money as I'd like to, so I seldom attend shows/concerts. There's an extremely remote chance that I'll go to the Pitchfork Music Festival this summer, which would be a dream come true:

Wow, that lineup is pretty fantastic. St. Vincent was just here, but I already had a ticket to go see mewithoutYou (one of my favorite bands) with Touche Amore. That was a good show. *wish chicago wasn't so far*

NMH I've always wanted to see. Seems like every time they come around, they sell out within minutes of ticket release. -_-

I hate being poor too *le sigh*

I'd love to go to ALL ZE music fests. I guess warped will suffice, its only $45 for the whole day...

Her show was the best I've ever seen. The live versions of her songs, especially from her new album, are a hell of a lot better than the studio recordings.

Hah if I go I'll be taking a 4 hour train and sleeping on the floor of a South Side apartment, but I suspect it will be worth it. *crosses fingers*

    edit for grammar

    BTW, there's a reason warped is $45 for a day. :p

Saw Pete Murray a few weeks ago for $40

Saw the Potbelliez last Saturday night for free as I got a free ticket from a DJ mate of mine who works at the venue.  People were paying $40 a ticket and they only played for an hour, was a huge disappointment.

Going to see Armin Van Buuren in Brisbane in June/July if Im not working as my mate has a spare ticket and his Mrs. doesn't want to go but wants me to go with him.

    I've been every year since '09. :)

I'm not too fussed over the lineup this year:

    • Paramore are always bad live, but I did love their latest album
    • QOTSA will be good...
    • Arctic Monkeys got wasted on stage in '09 and played a terrible set so I have low expectations
    • I hate Jake Bugg
    • Blink will be good, but they closed the show in '10 when they originally reformed as well, so it doesn't feel all that special I suppose

I'm pretty much only going so we can camp and chill in a field full of similar minded people for a long weekend...

We just don't get those sorts of lineups over here sadly.

Stop with your low expectations. Maybe the Arctic Monkeys have learnt to handle their booze in the 5 years since you saw them last.

Matt Berninger was absolutely wasted at a festival I went to recently and they still played an amazing set. He even had the decency to throw wine on us (white, thankfully).
There's still plenty of decent acts there though!

The atmosphere and camping is half of the experience. You meet so many awesome people. There's nothing like a festival family :p

Potentially bloodstock as well, but that's only a maybe as I'll have to take the girlfriend -_-
I shall post line ups later but the first 2 are very different to bloodstock ;)

Matt Berninger is basically always wasted and they're always absolutely incredible or so it seems to me. Never seen them do a bad set.

This year, we're going to Primavera which I'm ridiculously excited for.

    Spoiler

Then Glastonbury at the end of June for our anniversary because the best way to cope with being married for 5 years is to get incredibly drunk in a field. No lineup for that yet but most years we just end up in some tiny tent watching a band we've never heard of and then can never work out who they were or where we were anyway. Excellent.

Aside from the festivals, not much lined up. When we first moved to London we were at gigs every week because all our friends were in bands. And now our friends are either vaguely famous so we very rarely see them, or they grew up and got proper jobs. :p

Take a look at last year'a bearded theory, beautiful days, and shambala line ups.
You'll find most of glastonbury's line up that way, and the head liners have been announced.

Only Arcade Fire have been announced as headliners. :p There's been some pretty strong rumours about Kasabian headlining floating about for a while but nothing confirmed and Dolly and Blondie have been announced but not headlining.

I usually miss most of it to heckle anyone we know that's playing. ^_^

I saw Arctic Monkeys at Leeds in 2005 and they were pretty good but that was when they were just starting to become known and they were in one of the side tents rather than on the main stage. This year's line-up isn't for me, the only ones I'd be particularly interested in seeing are Queens of the Stone Age (already seen in 2005), Arctic Monkeys (also seen in 2005), Jake Bugg and The Hives (seen in 2004), all the rest I could take them or leave them. :/

Si!! I'm excited, Boy is absolutely beside himself. One of the real beauties of the UK and budget airlines is having the rest of Europe's festival scene on your doorstep because it's usually much better weather and cheaper tickets. :p We were initially torn between Pukkelpop in Belgium or Lowlands in Holland this year but a few friends were going to Primavera so we decided to latch on to that instead, so ridiculously glad we did now. Staying out for a couple of days afterwards, make the most of sunshine, tapas and Estrella.

Queens of the Stone Age appear to be flipping everywhere this year.
