Si!! I'm excited, Boy is absolutely beside himself. One of the real beauties of the UK and budget airlines is having the rest of Europe's festival scene on your doorstep because it's usually much better weather and cheaper tickets. :p We were initially torn between Pukkelpop in Belgium or Lowlands in Holland this year but a few friends were going to Primavera so we decided to latch on to that instead, so ridiculously glad we did now. Staying out for a couple of days afterwards, make the most of sunshine, tapas and Estrella.

Queens of the Stone Age appear to be flipping everywhere this year.

Festivals here in the States are always at inconvenient times or places and generally have mediocre (by my standards) lineups compared to the European festivals. I'm studying abroad in Edinburgh for the next academic year, but that's September through May so it doesn't do me much good. :p

Edinburgh does you few favours anyway for festivals. I believe Isle of Wight festival is lateish (early September) and there's a few early ones in May/June if you look. It's very doable :)

Ah you'll have plenty to keep you occupied in Edinburgh, shame you'll get there just too late for the Fringe though! I lived there as a child, I do keep trying to convince the Boy we should move there if we ever leave London.

Bestival is September, not IOW, it's just confusing because it's on the IOW. IOW itself is in June. :p Incredibly doable though, cheap flight from Edinburgh to Southampton and then ferry across the water.

My bad. Not in to heavily main stream/corporate festivals so I'm no too clued up. Just knew there was one on IOW in September.

Yeah, I'm sure I'll be plenty busy doing other things (actually studying occasionally?). I might stay on in the UK for an extra month through June with a friend near Birmingham, so that would give me plenty of opportunities. :)

I just looked at the lineup for Bestival, and I didn't see anything particularly compelling. Snoop Dogg and Elton John were both there last year, which is a bit puzzling and off-putting.

No, no studying, you'll spend the year in the pub like the rest of us did. And I suppose you can go see the pandas.

I'm trying to justify a weekend in Edinburgh sometime soon to myself now.

They've still got a fair bit to announce I think but Bestival does always have a slightly odder lineup. They're far too big on fancy dress for my liking... <_<

Emarosa are nothing without Jonny Craig unfortunately :(

    Two festivals this year:

    Spoiler

    Spoiler

Damn Wireless looks good this year, out of all that i'd go see; Kanye, Pharrel, Basement Jaxx, Vic Mensa, Drake, Wiz, Chance, YG, Outkast (hell yeah), J.Cole and ofc Salt n Pepa :D

Reading looks shit tho, not interested in any of the main acts cept maybe Arctic Monkeys. I'd go see Nero, Pendulum, Danny Brown, Giggs, Joey Bada$$, Krept & Konan, Pusha T n Vic Mensa

Very true, DGD is playing a few days after Emarosa around here... I *heard* he was on tour with them awhile back, dunno if he still is. Jonny Craigs voice is perfection.

right?!? -_- festivals in the states are never very close to me either.

There is a hxc fest coming up in the near future that is pretty close. Cro-mags, The mongoloids, Take offense, Cruel hand, and Fire&ice are playing it... but its pretty soon. idk if I'm gonna be able to get tickets.

I bought tickets to see FKA Twigs in Brooklyn next month as part of my boyfriend's birthday present. She just announced a show in NYC yesterday, but it sold out before I could make up my mind about going, so I'm very relieved that she's playing another show and that I managed to get tickets in the ~30 minute window they were available. The timing is a little inconvenient because Matt and I already have plans to stay in the city for a couple nights the week before the show, but we don't live too far away, so it's just a matter of budgeting for two trips within a week.

There's also a Shlohmo show coming up that I'm interested in, but I'm probably gonna be so broke and tired of navigating the NY subway system by the end of April. I'm also not thrilled with the other artists he's touring with, so we'll see.
