I wonder if changing up the requirements now and again (like leaving it up to the next to create it) would help, for example instead of saying "such and such phrase must be used" maybe provide an image that has to be included in the pitch, or more of an explanation on who said client is or something. I hope that makes sense.

It makes sense! That was the idea when I first created the contest! That it could be and image or a phrase that people would have to create something from. I'm hoping in the future more original phrases or images are used.
