I am guessing this is down to learning styles, but I am just brushing up on trigonometry on Khan Academy and they are saying in an example that:

I never learned how to simplify in that way, and I don't really understand what process is happening to get to that point. Any takers?

You're multiplying the bottom and top by 2root13
Which on the top gives 4(2root13) and on the bottom 4(13)
The 4s obviously cancel down to leave the given answer. Apologies for crude notation. On my phone.
Can help more later if you like?

Just to be more precise, all you gotta do is multiply the bottom and the top for a number that can make the roots disappear, so in this case you just need to multiply it by √13 and then divide 4/2, so you get 2√13/13 :)
