Now after quite a bit of work, it's finally time to release the Flight Rising ItemDB!

I guess you're probably able to find more bugs but so far the basic features should work. Features include:

• Searching and filtering items
• Sorting
• Skin/Apparel preview, familiar images
• View and drool over all those pretty custom skins and accents that you would have never discovered without the DB.

 

I hate having to force people to make new accounts. But:

• You don't need an account to report changes but they need to be approved by a mod.
• Mods are able to change items and apply reported changes by users.

All images and info are crawled from item tooltips. Unfortunately, information like how to obtain the items have to be entered by users.

I'm looking for some kind people who would like to fill the database with information! Just make an account, pm me the username you registered with and I'll give you the rights to moderate. This offer stands for Adv+ users and up since you can potentially wreck the whole database with mod rights, so sorry regular members. You can still contribute without an account as I've said and it's also much appreciated!

 

You will notice about half of the items are custom skins and accents. They also have to be tagged as such. D:

 

Feel free to suggest features but bug fixes have priority! There are still a few things that I need to take care of like automatic crawling and updating of the database (so far i still start the scripts manually). The editing interface also needs some improvement..

 

I tried to make everything intuitive but please ask if you have questions!

This is perfect. Very easy to browse and displays all the info you'd want right there. I can only imagine just how useful this will be once everyone begins filling in info.

To be honest though, I won't be doing much until after the 17th when my boards are taken (and hopefully passed!) 

 

EDIT: Hmm maybe not? I'm trying to make an account and its not working? I get the verification email but then its says not verified. anyone else having this issue?

Do you mind if I list the food points the item gives in the notes area? As a suggestion, could a way be created to add that automatically or to select it (like you do with obtaining and what the chest contains with the drop down menus and such).

Oh, and private is not for skins/accents released though festivals right? Because it does say "custom". (Sorry, just making sure).

I don't see your account in the database. Does it give you an error message when trying to register?

Forgot to answer you before. Yep, "private" is only for custom skins/accents. Festival is listed as a separate category ^^

It probably has to do with sending the confirmation mail. I have no idea why it occasionally works or fails though >.<

I don't know how I missed the "festival" option. None of the gathering guides list levels, so when registration opens, I'll create a new account and start listing what I get at what level.

I posted it on Tumblr too yesterday. My account has very few followers so I hoped putting in the Flight Rising tags would be enough. I have over 150 notes on it now <3 This is a huge achievement for me xD

Hehe, yup @Sweeney found it. A person suggested categorizing Familiars and Accents by color. I think it is totally doable by analyzing the images *_*

Absolutely should be. I bet there's algorithms out there to do exactly that in PHP. You may have trouble on the apparel, though, because of the background dragons.

Eefi will be able to write a custom algorithm to do it since she's got one for the Mystery Pics and that should share some of the same ideas.

I meant a pseudocode implementation for best finding the most common colour range Not that I doubted Eefi's ability to write her own image analysing code

It's pretty simple stuff, just histogram, sort and threshold the colours. As for the background dragons, I'm not entirely sure what the images look like since I've never been on Flight Rising but if the background images always the same you can just subtract them and that'll remove them entirely.
