It's probably mainly because America is so big and most of the countries immediately surrounding it are a bit shit (I'll exclude Canada) whereas if you're in Europe you've got dozens of countries within a few hours flying distance. :p

I've known yanks who haven't even left their state! Imagine that, you literally have some of the best places in the world to visit and you won't leave bumfuck, Ohio to do so....

To be fair, if you were from Bumfuck, Ohio, would you want to go anywhere else?

The Jaragua Sphaero is the world's smallest gecko, small enough to sit on a dime!

For this reason, they sell devices that look like ear bud headphones, but they emit light into your "brain"

That has got to be the stupidest fucking thing I have ever seen. Now we're going to get a bunch of dumbasses getting melanomas in their ear canals. /facepalm

I just want to live somewhere where the temperature doesn't go any higher than 26C (80F) and where the humidity doesn't make me feel like a fish.

The only small fact I can think of right is now is that.. um... no matter where you live in Florida, you're never more than 60 miles from the ocean.

Wow, yeah that's not bad at all. I haven't looked into it since they became "mandatory" in like June 2009 or something. lol

I was going to say... I grew up in North Dakota and we went to Canada all the time, we didn't have to have passports or anything for that.  But that was like 20+ years ago.

It amazes me how many North Americans that do not travel. Admittedly I don't go travelling much due to work and house save but I've still been to 15 countries and I'm only 24...

    I didn't have a passport until I was 26.  Most people I know don't have one.

The cost for us to travel to other countries is astronomical, though.  When we were in England it cost Joe and me like £80 for BOTH of us to fly to Germany.  To fly to another country from the US you're looking at at least $600 for one ticket on the cheap side.  Hell, a lot of stateside plane tickets are that high, even.

I am almost desperate enough to try this. I'm chronically depressed anyway, but in the winter I want to die.

    FACT:

74.6% of American Samoa is obese yet their life expectancy isn't that low. That's pretty badass.

Yeah, my hometown borders Maine and people travel back and forth all the time. We used to not need any type of identification, just a reason for going over. Now you are supposed to present your passport or you don't get through but... small towns, right? Everyone knows everyone in town and in the neighboring towns, including the customs officers. So they are a bit more lenient.

Carrots allegedly used to be purple until the Dutch started cultivating orange carrots in the 17th century, most probably in tribute to the House of Orange.

Okay I'm gonna lay off the Dutch facts for a bit, I look like a fucking nationalist.
