^ hahahaa omg xD

how long have they been together before they separated? O_o

i think people these days don't treasure marriage unlike people in the old days aka your grandparents.

Uh.. they were married 20-21years? I think? but I do agree, marriage isnt what it used to be.

Back then, if something was broken, they fixed it. Nowadays, when stuff is broken, people throw it out. idk if thats a good analogy but w/e. xD

I hold out hope :p

Be the 1%, Joe!! haha

    2 Easters. 2 Birthdays. 2 EVERYTHING.

Who wants parents in love when you get double the gifts and double the holidays?

    2 Chanukahs?

It wasn't like this in my family. I got "The Easter Bunny already gave you stuff, he comes here next year."

My parents are, yes. Been married 32 years and still going strong. My grandparents on both sides were married for over 60 years before one or the other passed away. True love and I hope that I can keep the love going in my marriage. So far, so good :D
I am still of the opinion too that if something is broken, you try your damndest to fix it. People who just give up without trying never should have been married in the first place imo.

My parents split up when I was really young, I don't think they ever talk. My grandparents are still together though, 51 years. I think they still love each other, in some way. My grandpa has worsening Alzheimer's, but they still care for each other and do things for each other around the house. My grandma does the best she can to look after him.. it does leave me hopeful to have a lasting love like that.

My parents are sitll together, but they shouldn't be. I've seen them hug probably a handful of times in my life, and they don't seem to especially like each other. My mom probably only married my dad as a prerequisite (religious reasons) to have kids. She didn't have kids until like 33, and I bet she was thinking along the lines of "oh shit, I need kids soon or I will never have any" and she chose the only man interested in her. My dad has been married a few times before, though I don't know the exact number because we don't talk about things like that.

My entire life, they've never slept in the same bed, let alone the same room. My mom currently sleeps on the couch.

Honestly, they're two crazies who aren't fit for anyone else, and so (I guess) have each other. If a love exists between them, it is merely the love that two people acquire for each other, despite their dislike, for having been through the same shit together for 20+ years

No, my mother was a closet lesbian so their relationship was doomed from the start.  My father's been married to my stepmother for 15 years and they're one of the best couples I've ever seen.  I haven't seen my mother in about 17 years so I have no idea what her relationship is like with her partner, but she's been with the same woman since she left my dad 20 years ago.

With each other? No, my parents have been divvorced since I was 2. But they are good friends now. My mom is in love with her husband of 22 years I'm sure, he is a great man and step-father. My father is in love with his current girlfriend since they are planning on getting married. He's "loved" a lot of women lol.

I think my parents still love and respect each other, but I don't think they're really in love with each other anymore. I suppose their love evolved over time rather than them growing apart, though. They've been together for 35 years. I know they've had their ups and downs but have always gotten through it because divorce isn't really an option where I'm from (it's not legal) :)

My grandparents were together for like, 60-something years? It was ridiculous. My grandpa still acted like he was chasing tail with my grandma until the day she passed. :(

Is staying married now the same as "in love"? xD My parents are still married and they are probably still in love with each other. But I'm not sure if it's just a sense of duty and I'm sure they don't think there's another option than staying together.

My parents are still together and very much in love :) I think it's adorable that even after 15 years my father still likes to surprise my mom with dinners and small gifts out of nowhere. Now the kids (aka me and my brother) are older they go out more frequently and it's wonderful to see them still in love.

My parents love each other, but aren't in love.  They tolerate each other at best.  It's been 25 years for them, it's neat that they stayed together for so long but they don't really love each other relationship wise....  It's more like they love each other how a brother and sister love each other - they're forced to care because they're blood related XD

    ^Sounds ambiguous, my parents aren't blood-related XDDDD

I hope to be the opposite of them when I get married.  I want to be with someone I'm in love with and happy with for the rest of my life.  Not someone I tolerate or have to love because I made a commitment.

My parents live in the same house. That is all.

My mum has spent 4 of the last 8 years in Australia (not as a single block, but 3 months at a time away)

I feel like they're only together now for the sake of not being alone.

Yeah, absolutely. It's what's always been part of the ethos of the marriages in our family. And besides fighting for your marriage will only make it stronger. :)

That being said, after you have tried your hardest to fix it and things just aren't going to happen then Ce'st La Vie :( Gravity must take it's course.

My parents went through a 3 year period where all they would talk about is getting a divorce.

It got to the point where my dad said he'll divorce her and give her anything she wants after ONLY if she agreed to go to marriage counselling with him.

The counselling seemed to do the trick though. Ever since then (around 6 years?), their marriage has recuperated and I can tell they harbor genuine affection for the other.

Wow! That's amazing! Good on them, you should be proud of them - it's awesome! ^_^

Mine have had rough spots here and there, but I'm glad that they've always tried to pull through it.

    Yeah :)
They're proven to me that I shouldn't be afraid to try and fix my relationships with people if I feel like they can be saved. :3

This is the best example of how trying to fix things can actually work. (Granted, it's not for everyone, but people need to at least try).

I have actually been to marriage counselling before as well and it completely changed mine and my wife's relationship (for the better). I hate to think of what may have happened if we had just given up.

One of the things I've often noticed between relationships of mine and that of my friends is definitely this^

'Irreconcilable Differences' should really only be a last resort, not a quick escape.

Unfortunately these days, it's just 'easier' for people to get a divorce than to try and work at their relationship. It's a bullshit 'scapegoat' imo. People should be made to attend some sort of counselling before being allowed to claim 'Irreconcilable Differences'.

Mine had been together about 25 years when my dad died. I think my dad always loved my mother a lot more than she loved him and they were coming to the end of the road though. Doubt they'd still be together now.
