There was a beheading last night in Oklahoma.

Nolen recently had been trying to convert co-workers to Islam, Lewis added during a Friday press conference. "After conducting interviews with co-workers of Nolen's, information was obtained that he recently started trying to convert some of his coworkers to the Muslim religion."

"Due to the manner of death and the statement of co-workers and other initial information that investigators have gathered, we requested the assistance of the FBI in conducting a background investigation into Nolen."
Earlier Friday, U.S. law enforcement officials said there were no indication the attack was linked to terrorism.

The article states that he appears to have chosen his victims at random. I think it's interesting that he was trying to convert people to Muslim, then chose to behead someone, so soon after ISIS made a call for its members abroad to start killing people in their home countries. Do y'all feel those two things are connected? Or is this just one crazy man? (Or is ISIS just a bunch of crazy men with a common goal?)

This is a little scary to me, it was less than 30 minutes away from my cousins, an hour away from my mother.

I find it hard to believe it's just a coincidence.

It's just a crazy mofo. This man doesn't represent the entirety of Islam, just as the Westboro Baptist Church doesn't represent all Christians.

If my muslim friend tries to behead me, I'll let you know.

I doubt there's any more connection than this potentially being a copycat crime.

Interesting at the least, pretty fucked up though. But a beheading is going to be just as the same as a shot from a gun. Only they had to do it physically. There are children who die all the fucking time at their schools because our society won't deal with it's culture of harassment, dejection, and xenophobia.

    Indeed.

If it weren't for the ubiquity of this execution style terror attack, I'd say stand alone complex.

Yes, I'm not trying to say that ISIS is representative of Muslims or that this guy is representative of Muslims.

I don't think that anyone can ignore that people are immigrating to the Middle East to join ISIS and literally no one is joining Westboro though.

Everything's isolated until it happens again.

Westboro Baptist Church is a family run business that thrives off lawsuits.

ISIS is a group that wants to be the leading factor of far right Islam in the middle east.

Of the people who may be leaving their country for ISIS, there are thousands/millions whom are not.

Emigration is the act of vacating a home for a new one.
Immigration is the act of coming to a new home.
(Such as your grandparents immigrated to the USA. They Emigrated from Botswana, Ireland, Sudan, China, Korea, etc.)

On a larger point, all religion is bull shit.

They prey upon people who are vulnerable, to get money, sex, and followers who will do their bidding.

So comparing the two is moot anyway then?

I don't understand. I'm pretty sure I used the word properly, given the definition you just gave.

I do not personally believe this is related to ISIS.. probably just a copycat beheading. So I wouldn't come to the conclusion that beheading is now going to become common as the title suggests

hahaha i wasn't saying there was anything wrong with it. I just don't think that beheadings are going to start occurring all over America. Or even every week.

I can't figure out how he had time to behead someone without anyone else noticing. I thought it took time. Aren't necks kind of hard to cut through?

    Yes it is moot.

Also you used it wrong. Because it Emigration is when you are leaving a country. Immigration is when you are coming to a country. Thus why Immigration is how you would describe Mexicans coming to the USA. If you were to Emigrate to Mexico, you would be leaving your home country for a new country. You would only use Immigration as a word for Iraq, when you actually live in Iraq.

Google's interpretation: Emigration is the act of leaving one's country or region with the intent to settle permanently in another. It is the same as immigration but from the perspective of the country of origin. Human movement in general is termed migration.

Right... but in my sentence, they immigrated to the Middle East. I didn't say they were leaving their homes, I said they were going to new ones. They're not in my country, they never have been, and they never will be. They aren't emigrating. (in my sentence)

I actually didn't eat any of it. I just pour it on myself like maple syrup.
