I really detest the way a lot of veterans treat Veterans Day here in America. I really don't feel like those of us who are Active Duty, Guard, or Reserve should really be partaking in the 'free' food fiesta tomorrow. I stopped flashing my military ID whenever I knew I could get a discount on stuff a few years ago, and I wish others would as well. It's nice to know that our service is appreciated, but I think this "give me free, or discounted stuff because I'm military" mind-set is toxic, makes us look like freeloaders, and it's just down right tacky. I had to tell a lower ranking girl I was out with that she needs to stop telling every fucking person she meets that she's in the military, because she's going to end up getting hurt sometime...
I agree. Especially this whole "green light a veteran" Walmart marketing thing. It's such blatant pandering it's gross. As a country we still treat our veterans like shit and no amount of free pancakes is going to fix that.
