My name means absolutely nothing to them. When I was playing on the playground one day (I was 4 or something? It's kind of a fuzzy memory) my mom was just like "Hey do you like the name Rebecca? Let's call you that from now on."

I had my name legally changed to that a decade later.

My real first name is of Turkish origin meaning "beloved" in Latin. I was simply named after my grandmother. It's commonly mispronounced which leads people to rhyme my name with vagina. Ironically I had a really good friend all throughout high school named Ines which if mispronounced (clearly on purpose) rhymes with penis. We were inseparable.

I like to use my nickname Emma, which is derived from a Germanic word meaning "whole" or "universal". You may all call me this.

My surname was also mispronounced frequently (which I can forgive due its foreign spelling). Unfortunately it was mispronounced in such a way that it was too made fun of, so it turned into "ballik" then some asshole added "er" and basically I was known as "vagina ballicker". THANK YOU high school.

My sister got a bad rap too and she turned from "Janita" to "janital" and of course the end result was "genitals". I swear not everybody in my family has private parts for names.

Funny story about my younger sister though, my parents let my older sister pick her first name and let me pick the middle. Her middle name is Leia, named after Princess Leia. I was a pretty rad 6yo, not gonna lie. :lol2:

Best story ever. I chose my brother's name, Abraham.

My first name means 'Bee' and I'm named after my aunt. I've got ten other names in the middle (I'm the first and my parents got overexcited, my birth certificate ran out of space) and my last name basically means royalty.

On the subject of names, a colleague is having a baby and asked her niece what its name should be. Her response, if it's a girl Anna Elsa Frozen and if it's a boy, Sven Olaf Frozen.

Her first name is Stephanie, named after Stephanie from Full House.... thanks to my older sister. Obviously, I was a much cooler kid than my older sister was. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

If it's a boy the baby should be called Sephiroth or Naruto.

Even better! She doesn't know the origins and the chances of getting the kid named one of those is higher!
