Shocking high school confession: Sex Ed teacher has sex with student in teacher’s lounge

WOODS COUNTY, Okla. —  A high school sex ed teacher has admitted to having sex with an 18-year-old student both inside and outside their Oklahoma high school, according to KFOR.com. In a written affidavit, 32-year-old Daresa Poe said she made a horrible mistake.

Investigators with the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation said Poe and the 18-year-old student started their relationship in December. Both the teacher and student admitted to having sex at the teacher’s home, the student’s pick-up truck and inside the teacher’s lounge at the school.

“She was my grandson’s sex education teacher,” Kerry Mouser told KFOR. “It’s a total shock, it really is.”

Under Oklahoma law, sexual behavior between a student and teacher is illegal until the student is 21. Poe was charged with one count of sexual battery and six counts of second degree rape.

“I have made a horrible mistake. I have let my judgment falter and I am embarrassed and mortified for the decisions I have made in the last two weeks,” Poe said in a written confession. “I have had sexual intercourse with a student. I am so very sorry for the [decisions] I have made. I would take it back in a heartbeat if the chance was given to me…I hold a position of importance where people and student[s] look up to me and I have failed. For this I am truly sorry.”

Sadly, this kind of thing goes on All. The. Damn. Time. at schools across the country; I don't know who is more lame, the teachers or (at the age the majority of these kids are) the students.

Here in Canada 18 is considered an adult, so I that part bothers me less than the wedding ring and her choice of words. Forgetting to lock the science lab is a mistake. Having sex in the teachers lounge and you've made a choice and are reveling in the risk of getting caught.   Cut the so so sorries.

The responses to these kinds of things are always the same "oh if it was a male teacher with a female student people would go mad", "I would do her" and "I bet none of the students affected minded". 

 

In the end, none of those things matter. This is inappropriate no matter how you look at it, and it affects the integrity of the whole educational system if people need to worry about these things. A student teacher relationship is still a professional relationship, no matter how you look at it.

 

In the end people are just so weak against resisting the taboo that one way or another they slip up.

It'd be different if he was 14/15, but hes 18 years old. He's an adult. The only issue was having sex on work premises, there can't be any issues about consent since he's old enough to vote, have kids etc

If there were issues about their relationship and school work that's understandable, but it's not rape. Never in a million years.

Oddly related story: The same thing happened at my high school, except it was the French/Drama teacher. The teacher lost their teaching license and moved to some other area. No criminal charges were issued because it was completely consensual and the student was 18.

I get that 18 is an adult but still you're in charge of someone's education and carrying on illicit affairs with your students does nothing to foster learning. Not to mention is gross as hell. In the teachers lounge? Those places only get cleaned once every 10 years.
