I love Duolingo, but it's not so popular here because you need to know English to learn anything other than Spanish.
Lucky for us we know English! You should help me learn Spanish.

Indeed! I don't know Spanish, though
Oh.. I don't know why I thought you did, I'm such an ignorant white girl sometimes. LOL
I'll teach ya Spanish!
Yesss please. I am learning the basics right now and I love it. It's such a beautiful sounding language to me. Like with French I don't find it sounds pretty but Spanish rolls off the tongue.

I took 4 years of Japanese in high school, and for the most part it has all been brain dumped. I'd like to learn a different language, and that's actually one of my goals if I end up being stationed in a different country.

Being stationed in Japan is how my dad met my mother in the first place. ^^ We might as well put a thread together for all the people that want to learn Japanese here. I'm pretty sold on Turnip's idea to go the DS game route, myself...

I have an extremely French name, so I've had customers automatically speak French and in turn embarrass themselves because I hardly know anything past the alphabet. I attempted to learn French for a little bit but got bored. Everything about the language just seems boisterous and snooty to me for some reason - no offense to anybody who speaks it.
I tried learning Swedish on Duolingo for a while and got fairly far. Eventually I got frustrated and overwhelmed and gave up. Neat language though.
My grandmother tried teaching me Ukrainian, her mother tongue, forcefully when I was a child. Bought books and everything. I had no interest in learning....but I might try it on Duolingo should they ever offer it. Hell, why not.

I recently moved to Japan for university and have been trying to learn the language for several years now (been trying since before I came here). Sadly I tend to get frustrated because I can't use it practically and then I give up. :c
I've improved a lot more since moving here, but I still can't have practical conversations. It really sucks and makes making friends kind of difficult.
