I can't be humble about this.

My sister is one bad ass cake maker. I noticed there was some interest out and about on the forums on cake decorating so I wanted to brag.

I just....had too.

My sister has no formal training in cake decorating. Everything she has learned she has learned in the last two years. Some of her cakes still need a little work, but the creativity in them is epic.

Here are a just a few pictures.....Hopefully I do this right. The last time I worked stuff on the internet like this I was in high school....eight years ago.

Also, apologies for just posting the photos and not hiding them so you guys can look at them by choice. I have no idea how to do that- feel free to enlighten whilst I go hunt around figuring out how to do it. Sorry for being such a noob!

Thanks for letting me be a contemptuous ass for my sister!

This was actually just a promotional one she did.

Yes, I eat lots of cake because of her.

They are so cool :o The Spongebob one was my favorite!

Also, this is how you "hide" them:

Thanks, guys. I will definitely relay the info. She's been off the cake decorating after having her second son and I'm trying to get her back into it. She loved it so much.

The cakes look really amazing! Too bad that fondant doesn't really enhance the flavor though >.<

    Thanks, you guys.

I told her today and she was ridiculously flattered.

What's crazy is she can't draw or paint to save her life, but somehow, when she's sculpting and baking everything seems to work.

You guys totally made her day. :)

    I love them all! EAT ALL THE CAKE! We always get really cool fondant cakes like this for my son's birthdays. They'd go ape shit over the Minecraft AND Spongebob ones. I'm hungry now ;n;

I don't really like cake, but I love the aesthetic. These are fabulous, and I can just see her getting better with time.

I watch a lot of cake decorating shows (not always willingly) and this looks just as good as any of them. But between me and you, how does it taste? I always wonder if it doesn't just taste like a mouthful of fondant.

I've been looking into chocolate clay lately because I don't like the way fondant tastes.

If you're smart about how you go about it it can taste great. My sister makes a cake batter from scratch that is thicker, more buttery, and less sweet than commercial cakes or cakes in boxes. Also, she makes homemade fondant which is a bitch, but it much better than purchased fondant. Homemade fondant is made from marshmallows and powdered sugar. She also has learned to play with what she puts in the cakes, fruit and stuff like that. She's gotten the way it tastes down, fondant cakes are by no means my favorite, but they're so much better homemade then when you buy them from a store or from someone using commercial fondant. Wish I could send you guys some taste samples.

Chocolate is actually way easier to use than fondant also. It  keeps it's shape better, is yummier, and is easier to deal with in general. Many of the cakes my sister has done incorporate fondant/frosting just to cover the cake and chocolate to do all the molding and shaping. It looks better than rice krispie treats covered in fondant, too.
