I was trying to find a gif of the dr from scrubs saying something like suck it up buttercup, but found this instead.

Strawberry-Scrub-For-Large-Pores1.jpg

It's obviously a sign.

Keep playing the game.

How?? Everyday drink water and eat bread only? :o

Live off the land, mr 1st world. Pick an apple from a tree, pull a carrot from the ground, eat an egg from a chicken... then eat the chicken. Bread costs money, but you could probably make something similar from nearby grains. :)

Determine exactly how much you need to keep your head above water, so to speak.

Put the rest of this money in a time locked account or one with heavy penalties if you wish to withdraw it.

Talk to a financial advisor who can help you budget.

Figure out ways of saving small amounts that add up over time.

DON'T cut corners with your health just to save a few dimes if possible.

Just because you can live off of ramen, white bread and all that other garbage trust me you will pay for it later with your health (if you live that long.)

    Don't drink anything but water.

I had a friend who stole toilet paper from restaurants (not a suggestion just saying.....)

    Walk, don't drive.

Really, if you don't NEED it then don't SPEND it.

Find your motivation to save your  money. Be determined.

Most people will NEVER be able to retire and if they do very few can ever do it comfortably.

The interest rate offered by banks is abysmal compared to other outlets.

Dammit..... i couldn't take it off right now.... it was my favourite old game "sonic"..... the one we used to play like this one......

    retro_duo.jpg

    Eat grass = 100% save $. :)

That is not a Sega XD It's not even a Sega clone. It's a Snes clone :p No Sonic to be found there. Unless there is a Sega slot behind it too. But I'd never go with clones anyway. They mess up the audio a lot.

BUT! Good news, that Sonic game on your phone? You don't need that man! Just look for a good sega emulator and you're good to go :D

As for saving money... just compare prices in different stores and all and go with the cheapest option when it comes to food and drink. That's what I do. I also rarely buy new clothes. Unless my aunt comes and drag me out of my place and forces me to. But that's also because I hate clothes shopping.

Sometimes I do it in second hand stores though. I got some pretty sweet dresses and an awesome jacket for really cheap last summer from it :D

Stocks (IRA/401k)? I mean most brick and mortar banks offer like .25% in a savings and maybe closer to 1% for CD or Money Market accounts. You can get online accounts like Ally that may give around 1% for their savings account, but what's the point?

Slots can always be a viable alternative.

Half? You're doing better than me.

As for the topic, pay off debts, set up an emergency fund, invest regularly in a diversified portfolio of passive funds in an as tax-efficient way as possible (hmm, questionable grammar) and stop buying shit you don't need.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Sell computer / tablet / phone / any device you use to access the internet.

    2. Cancel internet service.

    3. Keep your distance from ever coming on the internet ever again.

    4. Make sure steps 1-3 are strictly complied with for the rest of your life. Trust me, you and the rest of the world will profit greatly.

Just make an excel sheet of your expenditures and revenue. Then give yourself a budget for "optional fun stuff money" every month. But make sure you are still in the black each month. Then, ask yourself, is this purchase worth using x amount of my spendable free money?

I am still trying to figure out if this topic is serious or not. It doesn't really seem like it is.

    But just in case:

The first thing you have to do to save money is really know your income and expenditures. Spend the time to sit down and look through your bank statements for the past several months, and categorize every single transaction. I like to use a software to do this (there are free ones). After you have done that, you will have a good idea of your current spending habits. You may find some surprises, that you are spending far more money on certain categories than you thought. Then, considering your income and your recurring bills (things like rent, water, electricity, Internet etc that may fluctuate small amounts from month to month but will always be there) start to work on your budget. Figure out your rock-bottom budget if you don't pay anything but the necessary bills - how much left over is there between that and your income? Then figure out a sensible food budget accordingly. Most people spend WAY too much money on food. The rest of the money is extra. If there are only a couple hundred dollars (or whatever your currency) left over every month, you really should spend some time just building up a buffer of cash before you start budgeting in fun money. Set up an account where you can physically separate your savings from your spending money so that it is not accessible to you.

Also, work on increasing your income. That's a completely different discussion, though.

    I remembered this little gem

The question is, what can you rely on to help you save money and what are things which takes up your money. A lot of good points about incomes and expenditures. But things like knowing how to cook can save you money spent on eating out. Hobbies like reading can let you borrow books from the library or even spending a Saturday there using their wifi, reading and such. Things like having a liking for expensive food or paintball or whatever obviously are going to cost more. It's really just sitting down and thinking about all these things and drawing up a chart of how much is reasonable for you to save. Then it's a mixture of committing to it while also being flexible. You can decide how strict you want to be with yourself, but make sure to take into consideration that social obligations and emergencies might sometimes require unexpected spending.

Saving money in RL can be tough but it can be done. Remove your debit card and VISA/Credit Card from your wallet and live off of cash. Or making your own coffee and lunch in the morning can help you. If you did it for over a year then there's about $500 you got back.
